I will never return here or recommend this place to anyone. I came in for a quick coffee run in between meetings and ordered a small iced latte with oat milk, which is priced at $4.80 on the menu. To my shock, the total came to $7.80â DUE TO $3 surcharge JUST for oat milk. INSANE! Literally a SMALL iced latte came to $7.80 just because of alternative milk. Thatâs not only unreasonable, but outright exploitation!
With nearly half the population being lactose intolerant, offering a dairy alternative shouldnât be treated like a luxury item. Most cafĂ©s charge anywhere from 50Âą to $1 MAX for milk alternatives, not three times that amount. When I asked about it, I was told, âSorry, weâre a small business.â Being a small business doesnât justify taking advantage of customers. Youâre located in an affluent areaâ obviously youâre not struggling, and clearly this isnât about survival but profit margins. And not to mention, the iced latte was so bad I had to throw it out which made me even more furious. The espresso shot tasted burnt and was too acidic. At least make coffee thatâs worth the $7.80 youâre charging. Never again. Save your money folks! This...
Read moreThis USED to be really great coffee with really stellar service. I visited yesterday and the cashier, a male, was very rude. The "barista," a female, "made" my iced coffee and it just wasn't as light as I usually like it. They didn't smile, the barista seemed to be multitasking. Taking out trash and cleaning the back and just popping over to make beverages. It was mid afternoon and not crazy busy. I stood for a while for someone to acknowledge that I was waiting for assistance. They both (the barista and cashier) seemed to scoff at me, seemingly annoyed that I didn't just take my iced coffee and go. The cups are ridiculously smaller than they used to be. The "coffee" not as flavorful....watery and no body. Cutting costs this much will clearly hurt this business. Such a shame. What once felt like a warm and small neighborhood hotspot for coffee and other beverages feels now like.....well....a Starbucks. Yuck. The warmth is gone. It seems "more corporate." When the African American barista isn't there, everything falls apart. The manager 3 years ago was the GOAT. EVERYONE looks super stressed now, overworked and short...
Read moreI've been going to quartermaine for a couple years now and have with few exceptions been pleased with the quality of their coffee. However, I am regularly put off by their staff. The wife recently ordered a drink that the employee was unfamiliar with but which she had ordered there before and met with inexplicable hostility. When she tried to politely describe it he only became more frustrated. Also, their WiFi settings seem to be set to allow only a very low limit of people to join - I have tried on no less than 4 devices including iOS and android. I normally would prefer to patronize local establishments but if they specialize in specialty drinks but only get exasperated when a customer orders one then I think I'd rather cross the street to dunkin donuts where coffee is ok, the staff is cheerful, the WiFi...
