I've been looking for a good Greek restaurant in the area when a friend posted a meal she had at Chris's Charcoal Pit. I asked about it, she said they were excellent and she had worked there while in school. We went with friends who live in Annapolis but who has not been there either. This is a truly authentic and outstanding Greek/Mediterranean restaurant! It's easy to miss at night, all tucked back in a shopping center, but it's a real gem. We started with the dolmades, they were excellent, good flavor, fresh. I had the spinach pie, it is essentially spanokopita, spinach and feta cheese in a wonderful philo pastry. Others had the pastichio, a variety platter, and a chicken special. We also got a couple of gyros to go. The portions are generous, service is great, and the food is worth driving for! We were all stuffed but I wish I had got some baklava to go, I will next time. We all really liked this place, the food was fresh, hot, and really good. The philo dough was so flaky, light, and wonderful. They have Italian and some American selections as well, so you can bring the picky eaters with you. I love it,...
Read moreI ordered a salmon meal that came with rice and greenbeans. As my first time ordering it was not mentioned that the greenbeans would be in a tomato mushroom sauce as well as the rice had mushrooms. I'm allergic to mushrooms. I called to ask if I could order salmon alone or with other sides Instead of me asking for a refund due to lack of communication as I asked when I ordered the food what are the sides. The young lady even went back to double check what the sides were. The lady who answered the phone when I called back told me I can not order a peice of salmon alone nor was there any other sides to choice from. So almost 40 dollars went down the drain and I was told O well basically there is nothing we can do. Not professional at all. I did not ask for a refund and was still going to buy more food as the salmon LOOKED excellent. Really disappointed in the service. As someone who manages two companies that's not how you...
Read moreIf you want a gyro there is no place better in Annapolis! The staff is always really sweet here, I actually waited here after I had been in a car accident and was waiting for my boyfriend to pick me up. They were really sweet and let me hangout for a long while, partly cause it was almost a blizzard outside but also because they are all genuinely kind. There is a woman who runs Chris's I forget her name at the moment but she seems to always be there and she is always sweet even if the place is crowded and there's a lot to be done.
The food: the food is awesome, I rarely venture too far away from the the lamb and beef gyro, it's a pretty big very filling meal that you can add friend to if you want. The lemon raspberry cake is the best thing to get for dessert here, but all the desserts are good.
They have both a carry out counter and tables so whether you're in the mood for sit down or take home it's an excellent...
