I really wanted to like this place. Ever since I was a kid, I loved eating at diners and I was really looking forward to trying this one since it always looks so busy whenever we drive by. The decor looked nice and appeared clean, the bathrooms were okay, etc. But unfortunately the food just did not meet my expectations. We came here on a Monday evening. There was no wait, but the parking lot and dining room were pretty packed. Nonetheless, the food came out very quick. But the food was lacking in flavor and quality.
The service was okay. We had two waiters (one was being trained) and they were very friendly. They were quick to bring out drinks in the beginning, but after that, I was the only person at my table to get a single drink refill.
The food was hit or miss. Two people at my table got side salads while the other two got soups. The side soups are very small while the salads were quite large. They serve an entire loaf of bread (which tastes very plain and honestly isn't worth the calories).
When i go to diners, i typically like to order breakfast food or burgers. But Monday night is apparently steak and rib night and I am not someone who can pass up a special on steaks. So sure enough my husband and I both ordered steaks. My husband ordered a rare prime rib and I ordered a medium rare New York strip. The prime rib was HUGE and it came out the correct temperature. My New York strip came out medium well to well done. I decided to send mine back, which isn't something I like doing. The waiter was very friendly about it, however when it came back, I cut into it and it was blue rare. I really did not want to send it back a second time, but fortunately, my husband was more than happy to trade with me. So i ate the other half of his rare prime rib and he ate the very rare New York strip. As for the flavor, I felt that the prime rib needed a bit more seasoning. It was the first time I have ever added salt to a steak (or anything for that matter) in a restaurant. Definitely disappointing. I regretted not ordering a burger because this place just can't seem to make a good steak.
The sides were okay. Fries and mashed potatoes were average. The people we ate here with enjoyed their burger and chicken dish, which is why they still earned a few stars. That and their deserts are epic.
I ordered a slice of their Chocolate fudge cake and one of the people we met here ordered the key lime pie. Both slices were very large and decadent. Definitely worth their price. The icing on the Chocolate fudge cake was extremely thick and rich.
Overall, we had an okay experience. I would probably return for an omelet or something, but I would never order...
Read moreBy far the worst service I have gotten. I do work in the restaurant industry as well and this was not a good experience to have at all. I have been here before in the past and it was always good. It has changed so much. The food is now more expensive but it’s the worst quality food. My boyfriend and I decided to come out and get some food since we haven’t been in a while and I love their cheesecakes. When we got in everything was fine into we got our drinks I wanted a chocolate milk and it tasted spoiled but I just didn’t drink it and I had my water. We then got mozzarella stick which tasted like it came from my local food spot with rats but we was hungry so we ate them all. We then got soups that came with our meal but didn’t eat that as well because we don’t like soup. We then got our food and I got chicken tenders with fries and mash potatoes all of it was bad I ate one chicken tender and a little bit of fries. My boyfriend got a wrap and fries the wrap was cut in half and he didn’t even finish the one half. It was just to nasty. I didn’t say anything to the waiter bc I felt like it should be addressed to manager so we got our bill and tipped the waitress. We then go to the front desk and was politely as we can be and asked if the wrap and tenders could be taken off because we did not eat it. The lady at the front did not like the idea of us calling her food nasty. This women then changed her whole demeanor and become more aggressive she then was getting loud and told us “let’s look at your table” where everything was still in place didn’t even look like nothing was eating but the mozzarella sticks. She then says we are wrong and needed to talk to my server then a manager witch this lady was an manager. I felt like I did what was right. She then says you don’t need to pay for anything so me and my boyfriend was like bet let’s just get out of here then. As we are walking to the front the lady follows and goes to the desk and says that we need to watch how we talk to her. We did not raise our voice or anything we just wanted the food off that we don’t not like. She then continued to call us names in a different language. This is very unprofessional and we could have went to Texas road house for better service, food, and...
Read moreI have been visiting this diner for a few months, sometimes 2,3 times a week, so I spend money in there. I wanted it to be my go to breakfast spot, unfortunately I won't be back. Growing up in Philly, I'm used to diners, especially whenever we went to Jersey; this place has a lot to learn. For weeks, whenever I would come for breakfast it ALWAYS took at least 5min to get a cup of coffee, why? It's a breakfast diner, when you sit you should be offered a cup of coffee, that's the standard I am used to. Instead, I wait for a server to come, which sometimes took a few minutes, then they bring me a menu, I always had to stop them & ask for a cup of coffee, the server never asks, again why?
Ok now the food...a few times I had bacon come straight from the microwave, which is terrible! Or it's been sitting under a heat lamp & now is as dry as jerky. The French toast is 2 very large pieces of bread, which is nice, but that's it, no flavor, no cinnamon; it tastes like egg wash on toast.
The blueberry pancakes were actually pretty good, when they didn't microwave them! Numerous times they messed up orders, either with double charges to the check or in cooking. I understand mistakes happen, no big deal if it was a rare thing, but for a diner to fail at basic diner standards is bad management. When the manager was cashing me out the last time he asked how everything was, I was honest & told him they charged me the wrong amount, but food was good. He said, you know when I go somewhere & I don't like it, I usually don't go back. I shook my head in disbelief, said have a good day & left.
This is excellent advice sir, Thank you Mr Manager. I...
