We’ve been patrons of this restaurant for 5+ years. It’s my mom’s favorite restaurant so that’s saying something, as she was born in the city of Madras (Chennai). This restaurant has changed various owners and staff, but it has consistently remained my family’s go to for South Indian cuisine. We have tried other newer places, but none can really compare in the area. However, we still prefer Kaveri , especially after I tried their food again yesterday (03.23.2021) after almost a year. Boy was it worth the wait! The taste blows all other spots away! Other alternatives taste plain in comparison to Kaveri. Whatever the current chef is doing is magic! chef’s kiss The dosa was great as always. The idly was soft and fluffy. I LOVE the 3 different chutneys you get with each dish (standard coconut chutney with a perfect tang, a spicy Tomato chutney, and a spicier Peanut chutney). I could drink this stuff! The sambhar (soup) was flavorful and had nice chunks of veggies. I could also drink this stuff lol. The kids loved the chocolate dosa since it’s not a spicy dish. We also ordered North-Indian items like chili paneer and butter chicken. It had it’s own unique flavor, deliciously different from the usual comforting taste you find at my other favorites Just like you may have a favorite ramen spot, this is my favorite dosa and Biryani spot. I’m going to struggle controlling my cravings for this place. I can’t speak on the service, as it’s been a while dining in. But as with any venue - be a kind and decent human, politely ask for whatever you found lacking. Don’t be an a*e and shell out low scores to mom & pop businesses before giving them an opportunity to fix their shortcomings. Support local, especially if they’re serving mouth-watering food like...
Read moreThis past Friday (5/24), I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kaveri with 13 other family friends, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure our dining experience was nothing short of perfect.
The food was absolutely divine. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with authentic flavors and expertly prepared. We started with the prawn Manchurians, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with a delicious, savory filling. The mutton curry was heavenly, with tender pieces of muttons in a rich, sauce that had just the right amount of spice. The naan was fresh and fluffy, perfect for soaking up every bit of that amazing sauce.
The ambiance of the restaurant is equally impressive. The décor is inviting, creating a perfect atmosphere for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the dining experience, from the beautifully presented dishes to the impeccable service.
What truly sets Kaveri apart is the exceptional hospitality. The staff are knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate about the food they serve. They were more than happy to make recommendations and accommodate any special requests.
Overall, Kaveri is a gem of an Indian restaurant that offers not only outstanding food but also an unparalleled dining experience. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, I highly recommend visiting Kaveri. It’s a place where you’ll feel like a valued guest and leave with a full heart and a satisfied palate. I can’t...
Read moreReview for weekend lunch buffet around 2:20pm. Cost 15$ for one adult.
Featured a spicy array of foods, with chicken as the only meat in several ways, including butter curry, deep fried, tandoori, and biryani. Veggies mostly seemed to be southeast style- and included deep fried okra and potato, and a basic stew-like curry. Non meat protein consisted of a paneer curry. Included a basic cold selection of side salad, chutney, raita with onions and cucumber, also featuring curd rice. Buffet included chai and one dessert of a rice pudding with cardamom and some berries. (-) Besides the overwhelming spiciness and basic butter curry, the savory food was kind of lacking in flavor. Many food dishes were also unpleasantly dried out, overcooked, or lacking in flavor, and even the naan was excessively dried out. Maybe some of the food wouldn’t have been as dry if I had come earlier.
Customer service was ok. I did find it odd that you can only get water in the form of one plastic room temp bottle included with a basic meal for free. If you get more than one bottle, you will be charged. Considering how spicy the food is and the lack of complimentary ice water, this is another significant drawback.
They do offer 13$ veggie lunchbox and a 14$ non-veggie/meat lunchbox for takeout based off their buffet, where the waitress picks the food out for you.
Overall, it seems this place’s main attractions are for ordering off the menu, and their specialty dinner buffets on Tuesday or Thursday. Maybe their weekend lunch buffet is better since it’s supposed to feature more...
