My boyfriend and I visited the Chantilly location a few weeks ago and LOVED it! We went back last Saturday only to find they were closed for remodeling. We live in Gaithersburg, so we figured we'd try this location. Big mistake! First, their pricing is different. The Chantilly location has better bundles and allow add-on's. This location does not. Then, we were told by a girl who was in training that there was a 10-15 minute wait for mini golf, even though the course was practically empty. A few minutes later, a woman and two children were given their clubs and balls and went ahead of us. When my boyfriend told the guy at the counter that we were first and were waiting, he again said it would be about 5 more minutes! We had to argue with them to finally get on the course. Then, we had to wait almost 10 minutes to get 2 bottles of water from their "cafe." There was one person in front of us in line, but they were so backed up for some reason. The SAME girl in training and the guy we had the mini golf issue with were now behind the counter. The guy who was working the cash register, was also dealing with the food with no gloves on and I saw him touch food right after he touched the register and money. I was repulsed! Then, we bought 2 VR passes because we loved the experience at the Chantilly location so much. In that location, there is a person behind a desk that explains each game and helps you put on all of the gear. There are 4 stations that keep you in place in a decent sized area, and you can play the game with other people. When we walked over to the "VR area" in Gaithersburg, it was just a tiny space in a corner right next to the tables where customers eat! There was no one manning the area and there were two headsets hanging on the wall. I guess it was self serve with the game card. We had no interest in doing it at that point and went to the front and asked for a refund. The manager replaced it with an arcade game card and added $5.00 to it. They don't have many video games, unlike the other location. We used the card all on the Jurassic Park game and promptly left when we used it up and vowed to never return. I gave 2 stars because the manager refunded our VR passes and because of the Jurassic Park game, which was awesome!
Before we left for home, we went next door to the Lazer Tag place to look around and instantly regretted not going there instead. They have way more and better games. The best part of the evening was finding the place next door.
We will never go back to this location. The drive to Chantilly is well worth it. They are...
Read moreWe had an outstanding experience at Monster Mini Golf for my son's 10th birthday party. When I booked the experience, I really didn't know what to expect. I guess I thought it would be a party where the kids played some golf and hung out in the arcade. We got SO MUCH MORE! The manager Patty was fantastic to work with. She set us up with two incredible party coordinators - Nick and J'lana. Their energy and patience were incredible. They got all the kids into the experience from the start. They kept 13 kids entertained with games in the party room to set the tone. J'lana even came out to our car, unloaded our things and set up for us. The room was perfectly themed with monster mood lighting and decor. There was a refrigerator and freezer which helped store drinks (again, I just hadn't expected everything to be there). When they took the kids out to play mini golf they kept everyone engaged and on track. Finally, Joe, Emerson and Daphne also contributed to our successful party. Joe was incredibly kind and even brought my son out a huge balloon as we were getting ready to leave. His kind energy and helpful way just left us feeling like we had really been taken care of. Emerson cleared out our room and made sure we had everything we needed and Daphne helped us bring everything out to our car and load it up. It was SUCH an easy party because of this incredible team. My son said he had the best...
Read moreTo preface my thoughts, my comments are relating to the mini golf course and not other attractions. With that said, the course design is okay, generally. At times, I felt as if it was too easy for the ball to be trapped in a corner, which was only made worse by some odd angles or being against a wall. This problem largely is an effect of the course being built with a small amount of walking space available.
As a themed course, the monster aspect is fun and interesting. Truthfully, most if not all of the wall art references outdated pop culture. This choice is very odd to me, given that most visitors will probably be from a younger demographic. However, a few animatronics are appreciated complementing details to the overall course design.
Despite my visit being on a weekday at midday with only one other group playing, the course's music could be described as partial deafening. Amongst my party of three, we had to yell up close to another to even attempt conversation. Most of our play was spent not really interacting with another because of the huge...
