Review for Kerastini ā Edgewater, Maryland
Kerastini has always been a solid choice for Greek food, but over the past couple of months, it has truly elevated to something special. Iāve been a regular here for years, and I have to say, the recent improvements in both the food and overall experience have been remarkable.
The dishes are consistently fresh, cooked to perfection, and bursting with authentic flavor. The chicken gyro is tender and perfectly seasoned, the spanakopita has a crisp, flaky pastry with a rich spinach and feta filling, and the Greek salad with chicken is always crisp and refreshing, with the chicken cooked just right. The feta spread is another standout ā creamy, tangy, and served with warm pita that makes it hard to stop eating.
What sets Kerastini apart right now is that while so many Greek spots in the area have unfortunately slipped in both service and quality, Kerastini has stepped up. The staff is attentive and welcoming, striking the perfect balance of friendly and professional. You get the sense that they truly care about the food and the experience theyāre providing.
Greek food has always been one of my favorites, and Kerastini has become my go-to. If youāre craving authentic Greek flavors and a warm, inviting atmosphere, this place is not to be missed....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've eaten Greek food many times, including in Greece, and while some of the dishes at Keratsini lived up to the potential others did not. We had a party of five and were seated in the very crowded indoor bare bones seating area. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful. As for the food itself, the spanikopita was absolutely delicious and perfectly baked and I would recommend it anytime, anywhere! The salads were very fresh and had a good amount of peppers and feta. . But some of the other dishes did not meet my expectations, considering the prices. The chicken on my chicken souvlaki skewer was very dry and not right off the grill. The pieces of chicken were perfectly square, making me wonder if they were purchased in bulk. The skewer was served bare, on top of a salad, with no tzatziki or hummus, and overall was lacking in flavor. The dressing for the salad also was barebones oil and vinegar, with not much flavor. My companions also ordered souvlaki, dolmades, and platters, and there was a general feeling of wanting more flavors--maybe some olives and hummus on the side, or maybe some pita on the side, would have made a big difference. Dinner for two with tip was over $60 and it felt more like a takeout meal than a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām really sorry to say this but I am very disappointed in how the quality is declining. I recently ordered a large Greek salad with a side of lamb/beef total $20. I used to get a large salad with lots of onions and tomatoes and fetaā¦and lots of lettuce. The side of meat actually used to be beef and lamb. The salad I got the other day was (what Iād call a $5 side salad). It was in a large container but barely lettuce. 2 quarter slices of tomato. Barely onion. Maybe a few pieces of feta. I paid extra for dressing and they were these two tiny tiny cups not even filled up. The meat was just lamb in big chunks. It was all tasty, not complaining about that. But if Iām paying these insane prices and a $20 saladā¦.please donāt insult me with not providing. Iād rather you charge me $23 and give me a nice size salad that would justify the price. This one hurt and itās not the first time. So I think my time from ordering again or recommending this place has come to end. If you want to keep customers you need to continue to provide quality and quantity. Donāt skimp and raise prices. A $20 salad of what is basically just lettuce should be loaded up. This...
