House of Hunan — Restaurant in Annapolis

Wanted to try this place as we’re on the hunt to find a good consistent Chinese place to go to that also delivers. Ordered the shrimp egg foo young and kung pow beef for pick up over the phone. The egg foo young was extremely bland and taste as if whoever made it doesn’t know that salt, pepper and other seasonings exist. The kung pow beef comes with nuts and I specifically asked for no nuts because my brother is extremely allergic. (Both me and my brother recall hearing me say no nuts) The beef we received had nuts on it.. My brother had to take his order back to ask for it to be remade and was met with extremely rude and hostile behavior from the man working there claiming we didn’t ask for it without nuts when we placed the order. We tried this place based on Governor Hogan saying they had the best food. Based on that, we were extremely disappointed to say the least. At $10.00, we got two spare ribs, which tasted ok. My wife ordered vegetables fried rice, she was shocked to see steamed rice white with vegetables. She said it had no taste. The sesame noodles were in a thin sauce that tasted a little like peanuts. I ordered scallops, beef and spring onions. There were four scallops and five small strips of beef and some spring onions. Beyond that was a bowl of regular onions. It all had little taste. Wanted Chinese carryout for 3 people. Called in my order and received a call 20 minutes later telling us it was ready for pickup. Walked out with Kung Pao Chicken, steamed dumplings, shrimp fried rice, Thai beef in red curry, and beef with broccoli. Cost me less than 1/2 of the cost of going out to dinner. We ended up with enough food for left overs for two more days! The food was prepared excellently. The staff were professional, friendly and quick.
