Not one thing we ordered was disappointing! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G in each and every bite and sip. They may be trying to get their stride back as clientele increases, but definitely something that they need to shore up in regards to how long it takes staff to greet the table. We're happy that we stayed, but we've definitely left restaurants before in the amount of time that it took them to get to us. Truthfully, yes it was busy and it may be a situation where they are still trying to recover their staffing. So keep this in mind when you go and you most definitely want to make reservations.
Now! Back to the goods: Throw every dietary restriction out of the window and get the short rib poutine.😋😋😋😋😋😋 Add 15-20mins to your workout, fast before or afterwards, whatever it is that you have to do, do it. But most importantly get the poutine!
Also, the smokey old fashion is another great highlight. Definitely not like any other that I've had before. Consider it an experience in a glass that comes with a show. Lots of depth (although his was better than mine, so consistency may be a little wonky sometimes). Big ups to the beverage director on this one or whomever crafted this story in a glass.
How the salmon is not listed as a highlight is a travesty. A devastating travesty! The presentation provides a glorious visual artistry, that shows the care and craft of the chef. And the flavors are transformational. If you don't like salmon, I triple dog dare you to not like this! One of the best dishes I've ever had. It was both light and filling and so satisfying on all levels. Presentation, taste, variety of textures, and you get a great amount of food.
And I was surprised by the bites I had of the seafood flatbread. It was decadent without being overly rich, which having a crab dip spread, is not what I expected. Although, at least for me I think I would be satisfied eating just half of the flatbread and taking the rest to go. It'll take some discipline to stop but future you will appreciate it.
It's unfortunate that the dessert menu isn't on their website. I think it was the chocolate cake cheesecake that we had. Very yummy and delicious. Although, I would say I personally would have preferred a smaller chocolate chip. It wasn't the most pleasant thing to have to bite through so many thick chunks of chocolate, while enjoying the cake crust.
Definitely a place I'd visit again... pretty soon 😃😊😋😍🥳🥳 their brunch looks...
Read moreEvery other week my sister and I take my mom out to explore different restaurants and spend time together. My mom's been on the hunt for a good crabcake and many reviewers said the crabcakes were good and they had a cheese board, which my sis and I love, so we decided to give them a try. We had a 5:00 reservation, arrived a few minutes early and thought it was cute how they had "love notes" for the guests to take. This was a great start to dinner. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all with all the guests seated in or near the bar area. We were seated in a corner in the back of the restaurant away from any and everything. My mom frowned and asked why we were seated so far away to which the host replied oh 'I seat based on where the servers are and you should think of this as your own private party room". We were soon greeted by our server, Leo, who gave limited recommendations, but answered questions honestly.
We started with the cheese board and a cup of cream of crab soup. For entrees we ordered the crab cake sandwich, pistachio carbonara and the spinach salad. We ordered the south island sunrise and the just peachy mule. The cheese board offered a tasty red dragon cheese and a bleu cheese that probably would have tasted better on bread or crackers, but our pretzel bread was burned. The cream of crab soup, though lukewarm, was delicious and full of lump crabmeat. The entrees followed shortly. My mom did enjoy her crabcake, but is still on her quest. The pistachio carbonara was served in a huge bowl that pretty much devoured the portion served. My sister struggled to taste the pistachio in the pistachio carbonara. The spinach salad was a nice size, however, the champagne vinaigrette was very thick like a mayo or aioli. Leo never returned to the table to refresh waters or other drinks or even to see if we needed something. Overall, the food was ok. If we're in the area, we might go back, but for now I don't see an...
