I just received a ridiculous $85 bill for two adults and two children for breakfast and I can't figure out how it was that much unless they were charging us extra for things like whipped cream on pancakes. My husband left a tip and met me and kids. When he told me how much it was I was incredulous.
Husband said they never showed him an itemized receipt so I called them to ask if they gave us the correct bill. Nancy's Kitchen said yes it was the correct bill but didn't check anything. I told them even adding up everything with the amounts from the website I can't get anywhere near the amount I was charged (I get $65.50 knowing I calculated high for the specials because I was trying to pad the bill purposely) and I just want to confirm it was the correct bill.
The gentleman from Nancy's said tip was included (it doesn't say anywhere on the credit card slip, which has a space for gratuity). I told him my husband left a gratuity on top of the bonkers bill and they should show an itemized receipt and let people know tip is included. He said he did show my husband (doubtful) but they would refund the tip and make the bill $85 flat.
Something happened. Either they added something incorrectly or were trying to scam us. If they had come clean and said it was an error I would have been fine. Things happen, but they were holding to their story.
Either way, pancakes (for a 6 year old), a waffle with fruit, biscuits and gravy, and an omelette don't cost that much at Founding Farmers, even with two subpar juices (one kid said was gross and only took maybe 5 sips, the other said he didn't like it in the car), a coffee, and two sides of bacon. That was literally everything we ordered, $85.70.
Not going back...
Read moreFor $23.08 rather $25.00 after tip, today I had iced tea, soup and salad. The salad was skimpy, less than a full plate served flat not mounded up in a shallow soup bowl. It was supposed to be a Greek salad with grilled chicken for $12.99. It had a tiny I would say about one small chicken tender of grilled chicken breast. It featured some Romaine and iceberg chopped, plus canned black olives, a few slices of banana peppers a few tiny morsels of artichoke hearts and feta... a pitiful pitiful thing! I asked for matzo ball soup. It came with one fairly decent, even if box recipe matzoh ball (not the dense delicious kind but a fluffy kind you get from following the box directions perfectly)and some light broth no visible onions or carrots or celery. The soup tasted like bouillon with died parsley flakes (no dried dill sadly) it had about 1/8 cup of small chicken breast cubes and a bunch of some sort of yellow oil floating on top. And, get this, it had spaghetti noodles instead of flat egg noodles rather hardly cooked. Ok, I didn't expect gourmet but it was served in a tiny soup bowl more like a kids cereal bowl. I paid a quarter of a hundred dollars for that squalid, and inadequate servings or portions! Too much for that slop! The cook was yelling at the waiter to stay out of the kitchen. What was he doing back there? I will only go there for breakfast waffles from now on. I am...
Read moreI ordered a skillet breakfast with gravy on it & the eggs on the side over easy. I was told by the waiter that it came with gravy on it. When the order came out a different waiter delivered it without any gravy on the skillet so I asked him where the gravy was & he went and brought me a cup of gravy back. It was beef gravy instead of sausage gravy. While he was gone I tried the eggs & found out that the eggs were cooked almost completely hard so I sent them back also. When he came back with the eggs he asked if I needed anything else I said some more coffee please. Then I waited until I was almost finished with my breakfast before they refilled my coffee cup. The total was almost $20 for breakfast for one. Needless to say that this will be my first & last time that I go there...
