WRONG descriptions, pricing and advertisement of food across multiple platforms. Service from the manager is absolutely abhorrent Update (post the Oishi Ramen response): Grubhub, Uber Eats, Doodrash all update their pricing within 24-72 hours of the merchant requesting it. 5 days post a customer notifying Oishi, are they being ignored by all 3 major platforms ... or is Oishi LYING about 'actively working to ensure all' PRICING AND FOOD DESCRIPTIONS are what the customers are being charged for?
The review reply tone vastly differs from the customer experience in person... = Nov 30 the 1st phone call I received was while driving on the highway, halfway to pick up my order. The manager started with a "HOW MANY BUNS ARE SHOWN PER ITEM AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE 3 OPTIONS?!". - 'Uhm, I chose what was shown to me and what I paid for?". We agreed Oishi Manager would refund 1 item an make the other item as per specification described in the 3rd party menu Oishi published. When I arrived, I was still charged for 2 items (see bag photo and final receipt screenshot) for both the 'present' and the 'missing'/2nd item. The present/delivered item was missing the ingredients I paid for. = Nov 30 I called back after getting home, describing the missing items and issues. The Oishi Ramen manager assured_me Oishi Ramen would just 'refund the whole order'. This is an established business, the same pricing is consistently advertised across multiple platforms (Uber, Grubhub, Doordash), I fully trusted this was the end of the issue and I can trust what the Oishi Ramen manager promised. = Apparently, multiple hours later, the cafe called me [1 time] while I was unable to pick up
"We attempted to contact you twice to assist": 1st time they made a false promise [cancelling 1 item], 2nd time they intended to reneg on the resolution promised by the manager of the restaurant (Oishi issues the refund).
After i waited the normal biz day timeline 3-5 biz days for the refund: I had never gotten the food I paid for (missing item entirely, item delivered was missing ingriients) Doordash confirmed they cannot issue the refund Doordash informed me they will be adding a note on the account that the item pricing descriptions are incorrect ("actively working...") both on the phone and in person they promised to refund the items, they assured me due to inaccuracies they would refund the FULL order... I could only request partial refund with Doordash.
It has been 5 days: no refund manager YELLED at me on the phone "go contact Doordash" , after his promise to me to refund the full $37 (yeah, business is being THIS petty) , knowing full well Doordash cannot refund post 24 hours at all. descriptions and pricing are still wrong 5 days later, on 3 platforms: Doordash , UberEats, Grubhub.
Want to play roulette which description/price will be true?
Will be including photos: A. Photo of what i ordered from Doordash and was charged for (2 sets of t-buns with 3 proteins each). B. Photo of the same item description - from UBER EATs (same exact description) , C. List of what i was charged for (2 sets and 3 proteins each). D. Received 1 item, with only 1 protein. = Manager promised to refund the full order due to the inaccuracies "we'll do it tomorrow when we are not so busy". = after 24 hours... no refund... Manager now refuses to honor what he promised and says I have to contact DD, knowing after 24 hours disputes cannot be refunded by DD. 3 platforms , 5 days in, still have wrong...
Read moreI would rank Oishii right behind Menya Hosaki and Oki Bowl in terms of best Japanese ramen/soup spots in the DMV. Yep, it's that good! Not only do some offerings hit peak level deliciousness (and that isn't just the ramens, but some of the BEST BOBA out there), but the sheer creativity in the menu will keep me coming back over and over again. Dish/drink ratings below:
My only small gripe with Oishii is the prices feel just a bit too high. $19.99 for some ramens, even if they have unique ingredients, is a bit much, and its hard not to look at Menya Hosaki and Oki Bowl and feel like the prices should be more comparable (as in lower). That being said, Oishii is amazing overall, and I can't wait to come back to try the other ramens (such as the ribeye steak) and drinks (basically every single one on the...
Read moreDec 2021 We ordered online for takeout ramen and bubble tea. Good food, good service, but the prices are a little too expensive for me.
The place is rather small, with a few tables and a bar along the front window. Note there are only high chairs. I think there's outdoor seating, but I can't remember. All the staff wore masks.
Interesting details on the packaging. First, they stored the drinks in the fridge while waiting for us to come pick them up. So the cold drinks are separate from the hot soups. They also put cardboard on the bottom of both the drink and ramen bags; helps stabilize them and reduces the likelihood of tipping over. The ramen were packaged in that two compartment bowl thing, where the noodles and other ingredients are in a separate, smaller, compartment of a big bowl that has the soup. When you're ready to eat, you just dump everything from the smaller compartment into the big bowl. It's a neat way to keep the ingredients from getting soggy, but I still feel like the overall bowl is too high and narrow. Makes it a bit awkward to eat. Also note the bottom of the small compartment may be wet from splashing soup.
We got the Oishii and Tsuke ramen. Both were very good with good portions of meat. Interestingly, the Oishii ramen had thinner noodles (what you usually think of when it comes to ramen) while the Tsuke ramen had wider noodles. The soup was delicious, flavorful, and not too salty. However, I'm not sure if they were really worth $16-20.
The drinks were also very good. The Taro Milk Tea had lots of taro flavor, but that also could have been the taro smash topping. Note if you get the smash topping, you may have to do some shaking to blend it into the drink. The special Tsunami drink had lots of mango and strawberry flavor. I'm honestly not sure what the cheese mouse is, maybe cream? Note the puree toppings do include fruit chunks.
Overall, excellent food and service. But the prices mean I'm more likely to come back for the drinks...
