If you've ever wondered what heaven smells like, just take a stroll into Vie De France Bakery & Cafe and let your nose lead the way! As the world's most critical critic (yes, it's official now), I can assure you that this place is the real deal.

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked pastries and bread that instantly lifts your spirits. The display cases are a feast for the eyes, showcasing an array of delectable treats that are as beautiful as they are delicious.

I couldn't resist indulging in their assortment of pastries, and let me tell you, each bite was a little piece of happiness. The croissants were flaky and buttery, and the fruit tarts were bursting with flavor. Pair them with a perfectly brewed coffee or smoothie, and you've got yourself a match made in pastry paradise.

The ambiance is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the overall experience was delightful. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite on the go or settling in for a leisurely brunch, Vie De France Bakery & Cafe is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates the art of baking done right.

Worst King Galette EVER I called to see if they were still having them. Answer: yes. So i ordered one and picked it up the following day. They handed it to me saying they almost gave it to someone else???? I asked where was the crown? Answer: we don't do that anymore. Seriously? I heated it up, and it was dry and just ended up in the trash, and by the way, there was no charm inside either. I don't even know why they are calling it still "Galette des rois". I have no clue what happened to Vie de France. Were the stores bought by someone else? I would not be surprised if that chain disappeared in the next two or three years. Most of the time, they are not even that nice. They stopped making some of their products including the thin baguettes "the ficelle". I am totally done with them. And I have been a client for over 20 years. Just extremely sad to see a store which was convivial and with great products turn into this. 20 years ago, French bread and croissants might not have been that easy to find. It is now, and breaking news: Whole Foods, Balducci and even Harris Teeter are now doing a better job than that store which has nothing to do with France anymore except...

The sandwiches/pastries are good, and the staff are friendly, but the experience seems to go downhill at the register.

My first visit with my boyfriend we were charged for a drink neither of us ordered or received. This was my own fault for not checking the receipt before getting in the car.

On our second visit their system was down so it was cash only which is fine, except when managenent came out to check on things as the line of impatient and disgruntled customers kept growing. She told the cashier who was struggling to manually calculate orders to just round all the prices up. (Even if your system is down, the price of your products shouldn't change.) This was frustrating in addition to the cashier trying to charge me for another customer's items who stepped away since they did not have cash despite having already clarified those were not a part of our order.

Doubtful that there will be a third visit. Unorganized and cannot trust that I'm paying the correct amount for things I'm...

Eating at Vie de France is a bit like dining in Paris - the outside dining cafe where you can people watch while enjoying your food and refreshments. The only thing missing is the Seine River. Unfortunately the Seine is replaced with a parade of a variety of cars and the outside patio furniture is unstable. Even a touch of arrogance is in the air. The tomato basil soup was flavorful and delicious and came with a baguette. The baguette was unbelievable, light and crunchy on the outside and airy on the inside. My Tuscano sandwich excited all my taste buds. If you are lucky enough, you will get a side of their incredible mustard. Boy, I was in heaven. The Ham and Brie Sandwich on a croissant hit the spot. This was our first time at this location and we felt we needed a road map to understand the layout. It was a little confusing. Sayonara for now.

We had a bad experience at this place. First of all, their cappuccino and latte tasted exactly the same which is never a good thing. Secondly, the panini and crepes were full of cheese and lacked flavor. The croissant was fine but we expected better since this is a French bakery. We were also disappointed with the way the customer lines were managed while paying for the food. All in all this was a very disappointing experience and we will only be visiting to try their cakes only if we don't have any other options.
