The Market at River Falls — Local services in Potomac

It truly pains me to write this review as in the past River Falls Market has been a fantastic place to pick up quality seafood, albeit at premium prices.

Today though was not just disappointing based on the quality of the product ordered but more so the attitude of staff when an anomaly was brought to their attention.

My wife and I have enjoyed the lobster rolls at River Falls Market as they are usually overflowing with lobster salad and quite honestly delicious. While there is a premium price we have always felt that we get our monies worth based on the product. Today the lobster rolls looked like the person making them had half filled each lobster roll.

I brought this to the staffs attention and not only did they become belligerent and argumentative when asked if they could please redo them and fill them up as always. They refused and stated that, “that’s the way they’ve always been done”. Then they proceeded to repeat our conversation regarding the matter with another customer that happened to be in the store.

There’s an old adage that says: Rule # 1 The customer is always right. Rule # 2 See Rule # 1. I was mortified that they would share this complaint with another customer when I was standing right there.

Maybe the staff member that confronted me was having a bad day or maybe this was a one time thing, but this was unacceptable. I would hate it if this what customers should expect when visiting River Falls Market

Just purchased a One Pound order of fresh COD that I personally picked from the glass display case for $34. I asked them to make it a Fish and Chips special Order.

It was god awful. They simply took the one pound of COD split it in two and breaded it on One side. and sold it to me like that. Didn't include tarter sauce or offer me any.

The COD batter was under cooked and you could literally taste the raw gooey flower. When you picked the COD up from the tin foil container it simply fell apart.

When, I called to complain the girl said that's the way they do it and that she packed it herself. so she knew it was right. Really??? Have you ever had fish and chips in a half pound portion that was under cooked and battered on one side only??

The girl simply offered no apology and stood by the fact that it was supposed to be under cooked in half pound pieces.

Will never go there again....

Catering: A wonderful experience! We just had The Market at River Falls cater for a 40-person retirement ceremony. I worked with Jim on finalizing our order, and he helped me determine the amounts and timing to reduce overage and waste. They delivered promptly, and provided condiments and a few platters with garnishes for the crab cakes. Mini Crabcakes were great for a crowd, and they turned sub sandwiches into platters for us as well. The potato salad, black bean salad, fruit salad, and green salads were all very fresh and tasty.
