There is always one product that I need to taste before I could buy it. That’s potato salad. So I just picked up lunch from this place and I asked for a taste of the potato salad.
Let me say I’ve gotta give it a high nine point something. It has flavor and seasoning without punching you in your mouth. I can see the fresh herbs and the chunks of hard boiled egg are not those tiny chopped up bits.
The potatoes are cut to a great size. A lot of times people will just take like a small red potato and order it and then boil it and make potato salad and that’s just way too big.
Also, just the right amount of dressing or mayonnaise to make it well dressed, but not soup. But one final thing if you are looking for something obnoxiously, sweet and yellow, don’t look here.
It’s my personal opinion that no potato salad should be sweet. And theirs passes that test as well.
I had the meatloaf for my main course and it was good even cold. Plenty of other stuff in the deli case that I want to try next time. Fantastic place will...
Read moreThis is my favorite grocery store in the world. I have been a weekly customer since 2015. I’m posting this now because I just returned from the store and devoured a pint of their vegan mushroom soup. It is epic. I did add some excellent spicy curry powder.
Why do I love this store so much? First the staff is the best. Friendly and professional even in this time of COVID.
Second, the seafood is the best you can get other than directly from the boat. Not surprising since the owner was a fish wholesaler and, Max, the head fish guy, has been famous in this area for finding the best fish. If Oprah knew of this place, she would order them here rather than G&M near BWI.
Max is a foodie. He has told me often exactly how to prepare various fish and meat dishes. Each time my prepared dish was over the moon.
The prices are fair for the very finest quality and customer service in...
Read moreThis is a wonderful place to pick up both raw and prepared foods.
The shop has an excellent fish selection and its meat offerings have really become very good as well (especially the house made sausages). Produce and dairy are both very good; a little more organic produce might be appreciated (they do pretty well on the local end, but often lack organics).
Prepared foods are various and often reflect some seasonal offerings. Personal favorites include racks of ribs and meatballs. There are often good salads in the prepared section as well.
Service is great and friendly. Overall you cannot go wrong at the Potomac Grocer (please be aware this is more of an epicurious place and less of a local market with lots of canned or packaged items - there are some,...
