MY NEPHEW COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND THE OWNER DID NOT CARE!!!!
We were a table of 5 adults, 3 toddlers, and 2 babies there for a lunch celebration for my one-year-old nephew. The unfriendly hostess sat us in a private party-type room where we were the only table. We maneuvered the high chairs and kids to alternate kid-adult-kid-adult. The toddlers were sitting quietly coloring on paper placemats and we were reviewing our menus when CRASH!!!! a 3 foot by 4 foot plate glass mirror fell off the wall and onto my 66 year old mother and 3.5 year old nephew. My nephew was trapped in his chair with the mirror on top of the chair and on the table. Luckily he had been sitting little a way from the table any closer to the table his head when have been trapped and between this heavy mirror and the table!! Also very lucky that the mirror did not shatter.
My sister and mother had to call repeatedly for help and when the staff wandered in the hostess immediately accused my nephew of touching the mirror. No "are you okay?" no "I'm so sorry" just accusations to deny liability. It was ridiculous!! None of the adults at the table saw any of the kids go near that wall and the mirror was high up. My nephew was turned toward the table, quietly coloring with his head down...luckily....because if his head had been up his head would have cracked open from the mirror. It took 3 staff and me to lift the mirror up and while lifting it the frame snapped into pieces. Looking at the wall there was one nail holding all that weight – and having hung art shows before this is horrible, negligent, and dangerous to hang something that heavy on a wall…and to boot hanging over dining guests! Wow. Just horrible.
The staff called for the owner, who was the first person to ask if we were okay and then fetched his business card to give to my mom "if you have any problems, call me". Fred Berman. The owner also instructed the staff to save the frame and the mirror so they could rehang it later on…but it was in pieces!
We requested to move to the other large table in the room as our table was covered with dry glue bits and shards of glass/wood. Our orders were taken by a waitress and she brought us water, then we never saw her again. We were mostly neglected and had 3 other staff pop in on us over the course of an hour and a half. My sister had to ask 3 different people for a coke before one finally appeared (an hour after ordering it from the first waitress). Also, there were 5 orders of hamburgers & fries but we had to go looking for someone to give us ketchup after 20 minutes of our food getting cold.
No one was concerned, no one cared. We got no considerate attention or pleasant treatment and were charged for our full bill. Ridiculous. My mom made a point of asking if having a very large mirror fall on her head earned any discount. We talked to a female manager type who said she would speak to the owner and then a wait staff was sent in to tell us there was a 10% deduction to our bill. My sister called the manager later to let him know we were highly unsatisfied....still no apology and no interest in how this effected us or our experience at his restaurant. Since we're not litigious types, we are left with warning other consumers. I only wish we'd been less shocked and fearful, then it would have occurred to us to take pictures!!
BE AFRAID OF HUNTERS INN and RUN AWAY FROM THE DANGEROUSLY BAD OWNER...
Read moreI'm hard to please. Getting five stars usually required stellar amazing service. We came for their half price burgers (and happy hour). We didn't have any of the half priced alcohol, but were happy to see all the burgers on their menu are included in the half price deal which is every Saturday from 11am-4pm.
I've been twice for this. Once with a very large group of 10 people where the service was amazingly attentive. The second time I went was with my family (four of us). The first time I went my well done burger was pink in the middle. This time it was cooked through as requested. First time I went I asked for pickles on my burger and was told it would cost $2extra but I said OK anyway. Turns out the pickles were actually one huge large full sized pickle. I cut slices off it and placed on my burger. This time with my family when I asked for a pickle I wasn't told it was $2 extra and when my burger arrived I had no pickle. It took 10 mins before I could flag someone down and ask for my missing pickle and commented that if I was paying $2 for pickles I wanted to make sure I got it and which point I was told I could get a pickle spear for free or pay $2 or the whole pickle. Went for the spear. My family had to wait while I finished my food since I waited so long to get a complete burger with all my toppings. No one ever brough the mustard I asked for several times and finally got up and got it myself. So a mixed bag of service. We'll be going back again and see how the service is...
Read moreThe service was very good, appetizers were delicious, my entree was the worst I’ve ever tasted at a place you expect to be nice.
We had a party of 12, reserved in advance so the tables were set up in the side room when we arrived.
The reason the service was only very good and not great is it took the server asking what we wanted for drinks before they realized only 2 people in the group had been given any menus. And I never got a menu in the end though I could have asked.
We got a good sampling of appetizers, all were delicious and the calamari was the best; very flavorful and cooked nicely.
I got the scallops for my entree. It had almost no flavor except maybe burnt. Despite that it tasted burnt earlier, cooled, and reheated in a microwave, the texture still was okay. It sat on what I’d describe as the cheap cut vegetables from the frozen section of the grocery store (that bag of peas, carrots, and corn) also with no flavor.
I wish there had been some music in the room. I’m sure that could have been accommodated if we asked as they were able to adjust the room temperature when we asked.
I’ve never been here before this visit. They strike me as wanting to create an upscale experience but...
