Wow. From first bite to last and every bite in between, this was excellent. Every dish is well thought through, tested, and made from scratch with no shortcuts.
We placed our order at the food truck and when inside the store front until they brought our food.
We got Dinuguan, which was one of the specials for the day. They make it a little different than other places and now I prefer it this way. The pork is slow cooked so all the fat is rendered out and then reabsorbed. This is SUPER tender. It’s topped with a green pepper, but if you don’t like spicy, just don’t eat the pepper. The pepper’s spice level is like a spicy jalapeño.
This came with garlic rice. And their garlic rice is unique and spectacular! It’s so good it needed its own paragraph. The rice texture was great. The depth of garlic flavor was perfect. I couldn’t pin point it, but it was love at first bite. If an establishment came make such a basic staple in Filipino cuisine this good, I was sold!
We also ordered the Pork Tosilog. This is a sweet and savory marinaded pork with a fried egg on top of rice. They were also kind enough to add a little bit of the chicken for us to try. Both the pork and chicken were great. The meat was also tender. If you’re new to Filipino cuisine and like chicken teriyaki, this is what I’d recommend.
We finished our meal with a mango halo halo. This is usually offered with Ube (purple sweet yam/potato), so when they offered mango, I jumped at it! The mangoes were fresh. Instead of shaved ice base, this is made with shaved milk so it is creamier. They also make their own ice cream and rice krispy topping.
Since we sat inside, Chef Rodalyn talked to us as we enjoyed our meal. She brought us a little sample of the Ube Halaya (jam) the she makes from scratch. The Ube flavor is not from synthetic flavoring. But she actually makes it all from scratch. It was freshly made and still warm when we got it. The taste was amazing and you can feel the texture of the starch that you get from potatoes/sweet potatoes.
They are in the process of opening a ghost kitchen in Columbus, and I can’t wait for the Columbus location to open! This is definitely a place I recommend whether you’re new to Filipino cuisine or ate it...
Read moreSo, I’m a bit annoyed, but I’m not going to reduce my rating because the food is good. Their website says they’re open, but the signage is not only confusing, today it contracts their posted hours on their website. Apparently, their food truck is their primary business, and their walk in restaurant is secondary. I tried to eat at their restaurant, but the owner (Rodalyn) told me that they just returned from a food truck gig in Cincinnati, and that their restaurant wouldn’t be open until 3:00pm. Well, it’s 12:30, and I’m hungry so I’m going elsewhere. But, Check out Rosalyn’s Food Truck if you see it...
Read moreA hidden gem in Marysville and central Ohio that more people need to know about! Absolutely delicious Filipino dishes: many traditional home-cooked flavors and some modernized for diverse palete. We had today's specials of sinigang (savory & sour spare ribs) and kaldereta (tomato-based beef stew), plus chicken adobo, lumpia (Filipino-style egg rolls), and pancit bihon (popular noodle dish). We also had their homemade ube (purple yam) and mango ice cream. Next time we want to try the longganisa burger, tocilog, and halo halo. Chef Rodalyn and her staff take great pride in their food...
