The food is really great here. I grew up in Mason and had fond memories of Westside Deli. While in town as an adult, I went back and it was just as I had remembered it 🥰
The lady working the counter seemed a bit annoyed that she was at work and having to deal with my family buying things, but nothing too rude. It was just obvious that she didn't want to be there and didn't want to have to take our orders lol To be fair, it was probably a bit strange to see a family come in looking like tourists in Mason lol
Anyways, they still have the option to buy pizza by the slice, and they have a ham pizza with deli ham on top, which is so good and I have never found that anywhere else. My sister got her old favorite when she was a kid--the ham and cheese sandwich. I got a pizza sub--my old favorite from when I was a kid. Both were absolutely awesome, just as we remembered them. They brought back a ton of great memories.
There's a huge selection of different kinds of subs and different kinds of pizza slices and whatnot. You can also build your own pizza, made to order. They have a lot of different topping selections for the pizza and subs, and sides.
It's still quite popular too, because just as we were leaving a bunch of different people were coming in the door to grab lunch, all at once.
I would definitely recommend their food to anyone that was stopping in town. Westside Deli has been around quite a long time and they know what they are doing. I couldn't imagine a trip to Mason without stopping in for...
Read moreSome Places Just Don't Get It.... Stopped in Mason for business and wanted to grab a quick bite. So I decided on Westside Deli (coincidently it was national pizza day). Got their "Thursday special" free breadstick with each slice of pizza purchased. Well it was 2:04 when she got to my order and put the slices in my bag. I asked about the free bread sticks. She replied "you are about 5 minutes too late". I was amazed as a)I did not know there was a cut off for a piece of bread . b) she finished up one order and took another order that was ahead of me as I waited. c) what kind of F*&$!@ BUSINESS cuts a customer off like that over a bread stick?! After my amazement she replied "she would if she could", so I said "they are right there (premade under heat lamps) you could if you wanted too. Then she insulted my intelligence by the saying "no the cash register key automatically shuts down at 2pm". Which I'm sure is some bright idea management told her to say in a pinch. And then ended it by saying "you can still get the breadsticks but you just have to pay for them"..... No thanks I really didn't need them anyways. Just like apparently you don't need me as a customer. And some things are more principle that breadstick. I don't need the pizza (warm yet not very flavorful) that bad either. (This a place is 50 yards from both Little Caesars and Hungry Howie's). Glad you saved your piece of bread. Some Places Just...
Read moreThis was a go-to for pizza delivery in Mason, typocally once a week. In the past few months, though, we have had constant problems. The delivery has taken far too long. Saturday night, the "20-60 minutes" was actually 1 hour-45 minutes, with the pizza being quite cold. We have received the wrong pizza, and when we called, they said they would remake it correctly, but they wanted the wrong one back. Why? So they can deliver it to the right home? So we waited another 45 minutes. We have paid for a 2 liter of pop only to have that not delivered with the order, other pizza late and cold. The next day, the owner did call us once and refunded what we spent. It has, however, happened too many times to be the fault of a single bad apple there. Why pay a premium price for cold late pizza? There are other pizza shops to...
