Tipsy Nickel Bar & Grille — Restaurant in Mason

Everything about this place was mediocre... except the price. By the price, you would think you were going to experience greatness, in reality not so much.

I called in to see how long the wait was, and they told me 20 minutes, so i asked to be placed on the wait list. Then they forgot about me, and I called after 45min to ask what was going on. It took them a few minutes to figure it out, but I got the text to come inside while I was on hold. Our waitress was sweet, but didn't pay much attention to us. My fiance ordered 2 cups of French dressing with his salad. They gave him 1 cup of ranch at 1st. We had to ask for french instead and still had to ask again for a 2nd cup. I did not get a refill on my soda until I was done eating my meal, and that is only because I asked for it even though my cup had been empty since about 2 min after my meal came out. Now to the food. My fiance ordered a steak medium well burn the fat. They burned the whole outside of the steak but the inside was barely medium. I ordered salmon. It was only half cooked. The middle was almost raw. I know you can eat raw salmon and it won't hurt you, but i didn't think I had to special order my fish fully cooked when I am not eating sushi. The fingerling potatoes were bland. It was like they baked them with no seasoning, butter, or anything. Served them plain with no flavor. The asparagus was undercooked and unseasoned. I had to ask for garlic butter to add too everything I was eating for a bit of flavor. The salad wasn't very good either. Their lettuce wasn't crispy, and it had an off taste to it like bitterness.

The place is tiny. The tables are very cramped. If you lean too far you will bump into the tables around you. Going in or out of the bathroom is like a collision waiting to happen.

We really were looking forward to trying this new restaurant so we were excited to visit. It was so interesting... before we were seated the waitresses were standing there asking us what we wanted to drink. We didn't know what was available so we asked to wait until we reviewed the beverage menu....they did come back several times and they provided us water right away. we had salad which i thought was ok but hubby was underwhelmed. I had a flat bread. my husband had a Hamburger with French fries. His comment was he didn't think it was a $15 Burger. I enjoyed my flat bread then & took half home for the next day...so it was fine. We each had a beer but declined a second it was very noisy there so it was hard for us to hear each other talk. I believe in giving a restaurant a second chance so I encourage us to go back sit in a different place and try it again. It was a bit expensive for...

Had dinner here Jan 11th which was our second visit. Our first visit was excellent and this was the same. Greeted and seated quickly, our server explaining the seafood boil, and took our drink order.

The smoked old fashioned combinations they offer are excellent. Elevated cocktails.

Dinner was the wet aged ribeye for me and the hamburger for my wife. The ribeye.....was amazing. Whoever grilled this beautiful steak hit a perfect medium rare with perfect cross hatching and nice hot grill char. My wife's burger with blue cheese was beautifully cooked and presented. Nice mild blue cheese for this burger really tied all the flavors together.

Nice but short wine list. We do like dry reds and they have one that is perfect at price.
