I rate it 3 stars because I once came and grabbed a to go box (mind you it costs more than the actual AYCE diner) and grabbed 8-13 frog legs and oh there’s now a limit and according to them “it’s a to go box not a mountain” don’t judge me infront of everyone, I’m not even a big person I’m a skinny dude and they felt the need to say it’s a to go box not a mountain, clearly they care a lot a about food rations, it’s not my fault I enjoy their frog legs have not came back since. Horrible service and they talk in mandarin or in their native language when you’re doing something wrong because all workers were talking in another language before approaching me, and no they don’t let you bring a bag to tighten your to go box so clearly my to go box was a not a mountain it was more of them being greedy with rations, and greedy by giving a 6x6 to go box for the price of almost $20, I’m sure they don’t act this way if you sit down however, and so that’s why I give 3 stars. The service isn’t the best but the food and atmosphere are amazing have been here other times in their all you can eat and no complaints about portion sizes I don’t know why they care so much about to go which is...
Read moreFound a rock in my egg roll. Which, i am fully aware that "Stuff Happens." But after giving the rock to my server i pushed my food away i waited at the table for someone to come and apologize to me. After an infuriating five minutes at the table I proceeded to go to the register. I was made to understand she didn't know about it and offered no apology. But there would be no charge for my meal. I insisted my guest didn't need to pay either as her meal had also been disrupted. She told me to wait for the manager. (which had already been made aware of the rock, after the server had told him promptly after i delivered the rock to him) I waited another extremely aggravating five minutes for someone to truly apologize about the issue and give my guest her meal for free. And we left without paying and no true apology as the cashier followed us out insisting my guest should pay for hers...POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. There is right way to deal with things, and wrong way to deal with things. This should have been an urgent issue for...
Read moreWe've eaten at this particular restraunt for over 10 years, and the food quality is not what it used to be! The prices are significantly higher than other similar style buffets in Effingham. Also, if you eat at around 2 p.m., it's DINNER pricing with selections that haven't been refilled and are lacking. Even the sushi was questionable, as it wasn't chilled any longer. Poor timing or not?
As to the atmosphere, it's time for an update of the dining area, too. I'm pretty sure that all of the seating and flooring is the same as it was when they opened. The booth seats are cracked; be sure to get a table, especially if you're wearing shorts or a skirt.
The guy who cleared away our dishes was polite without being intrusive and was the best part of our dining experience.
We will go elsewhere in town for different food (Thai Noodle) or drive south to Effingham if we want a Chinese buffet. If you've not been to either of these, go...
