Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in McAllen

I’m not one to go out of my way to leave a bad review, but I feel like my experience was so horrible that I needed to share. I went with my family for a birthday dinner , our server was JULIUS B. From the moment we got there he looked annoyed and was very hostile towards us the whole night. He ignored several guests in our table when they ordered, would often leave for long periods of time to sit at a table next to the bar with other employees, to a point that we had to stand up and go look for him. To what he would looked bother to provide us any service. He was very upset that in one point he even told us “another one??”. It was the worst customer service experience we’ve ever had, ever. There was a table that came after us, young ladies, and he was very attentive towards them and was happy to serve them. You can notice he will change his attitude as soon as we called him over to our table. He would literally turn around and change his demeanor towards us and showing that he was annoyed to serve us. To top it all off, the A/C didn’t work, the carpet close to our table was soaking wet and they set up a fan to cool off that section. At the end of the night when we paid, he charged us and kept the change. We waited for him and he never came back, then we saw him serving the table of girls and we felt uncomfortable even approaching him for the change so we just left.

Honestly this is one our fav places to go and unwind, we have been going to this place for several years now. We usually have a server named ANDREW that goes above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. But this time we really regret going there to celebrate something so special like a birthday.

It was a very disappointing experience and I am sharing this in hopes that it doesn’t happen to someone else, because it was very belittling. It was honestly the worst...

I love Applebee's!! They are the best place for drinks; their food and appetizers are sooo delicious too. On this occasion though, my husband and I went for drinks specifically. They have the best drink specials we have ever found, but even if you miss the hours of the specials, don't go anywhere else - stay and order yourself/yourselves some of their drinks- they are totally worth it (still not expensive)! In the photos are - my husband's nice - cold draft beer, and one of my favorites- the Banana Mai Tai, in the other picture is a Pina Colada. The employees are very friendly and attentive, the bar tender; (yes I'm going to name drop - Rene) we had that evening, were very attentive and kept the whole bar area super clean, while taking drink orders and preparing said drinks, and conversating with us. All of the bartenders there really are very awesome and friendly. And the manager that was there, was very friendly, extremely involved with us, in a very good way- which is something that no other manager has ever done with us. We love this Applebee's , and I definitely, definitely recommend it here to anyone and everyone that is looking to have some great drinks, a happy/fun time and great food/appetizers in an awesome atmosphere! I definitely- absolutely, without a doubt recommend that anybody/everybody looking for a good time drinking, etc. , give Applebee's a try, and I personally guarantee that you will have a great time there and have some absolutely awesome drinks and time there! So give Applebee's a try and I guarantee you will not be...

James was our server and he was honestly an amazing man made us feel very welcomed and we had great conversations with him. The food was great so I rate it 5 stars the only problem was the atmosphere as in the bartender came up to me and my bf to complain about the drink we had she said and I quote “ did you just get that drink cause it’s not even you’re and she proceeded to walk away upset” the drink we had gotten from our server James was the correct order so what Order what the bartender talking that she felt the need to interrupt me and my bf meal to complain. And if it the drink we had wasn’t the correct one then why did it take her 30 minutes to just pour it for us since it was just a simple beer. I proceed to see her act rude and point at me and my boyfriend while she was complaining to another server that was working the cocktail area. I found this very unprofessional and rude how dear this bartender feel the need to not only take 30 minutes to pour are beer but to come up to use after are server dropped it off just to say it wasn’t the right one when she didn’t even ask what kind of beer it was that we had so she just assumed it wasn’t correct I found her very rude and I would understand if she was busy but it’s wasn’t so she had no excuse for being as rude as she was.
