Bubba's 33 — Restaurant in McAllen

I wrote this review quite a while back, and now I have had the pleasure of trying out their food as well. And I just have to say- the pizza there is absolutely delicious; from the ingredients to how it is made to the taste, is just amazing! I honestly don't know exactly how they cook it (if they use a brick oven or not), but i can honestly say that it's the best, most delicious pizza that i have tasted- that doesn't come from a fast food pizza chain. I'm not putting those other places down either, but for a more authentic looking, and more importantly- a more authentic tasting pizza - Bubba's 33 is the place to go, in my opinion. My husband and I also had the pleasure of trying out their burgers and OMG!, they are absolutely devine! If you are looking for a delicious, very generously proportioned, extremely filling burger, then I strongly recommend that you give them a try. I ordered the Bubba's cheeseburger, and to my surprise, it was a double meat cheeseburger with bacon, that was so beautifully curated in every way- I just couldn't ask for more! I can't for the life of me remember the name of the burger that my husband ordered (I know, I have to work on that!) but it was just as big and tasty as mine, and the difference was that his had guacamole in it apart from the rest of the traditional ingredients of a burger, and of course it had bacon in it as well. Both burgers were very well cooked, juicy, flavorful, and extremely filling! Of course we ordered them with fries, and the fries, obviously did not disappoint. Perfectly crunchy and tasty seasoned fries. I also took the liberty of ordering a side of their onion rings and a side of their mac-n-cheese, and I have to admit, they definitely did not disappoint at all! My husband is a mac-n-cheese fan, therfore he has tried out the mac-n-cheese at various places, but again - to my surprise - he absolutely loved it and proclaimed it to be the best he has had. I myself am not that big of a fan of mac-n-cheese, but when my husband told me how good he thought it was, I just had to try it. And I do have to admit- it was some very tasty, perfectly seasoned/cooked mac-n-cheese. The onion rings were the best I have ever had! They do still have awesome service; very nice, friendly employees, very engaging atmosphere and sociable people. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone looking to have a good time with great service in a very friendly, sociable environment. 😊👍👍👍 I still now, strongly recommend to anyone and everyone that is looking for some very delicious food, great drinks, an enjoyable atmosphere and experience, to absolutely- definitely give Bubba's 33 a try!! I personally guarantee that you will not be disappointed!! Update! - My husband and I just had some drinks here at Bubba's 33, sooo good! I tried out their strawberry margaritas, I tried the frozen strawberry margarita, made by our bartender Danny and OMG! it was delicious! It was so good that I tried drinking it kind of fast (like a normal drink), but instead of brain freeze I got chest freeze! So I ordered another one but on the rocks instead, and still absolutely delicious- but no more chest freeze! So I ended up drinking 3 strawberry margaritas and my husband had two Budlights in the tall, very chilled glasses they have, and he loved how good and especially how cold they were. Our bartender (Danny) was so extremely and pleasantly friendly and attentive, the other bartender that was there (I'm sorry I didn't get her name) was also very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was also very pleasant and enjoyable. So still, and once again, I strongly recommend that anyone/everyone that hasn't been there yet, go on over and give them a try, whether it's to try out their food or drinks! I came in with my family on mothers day and sherlyn was my waitress. I ordered the hot and spicy chicken sanwhich plain and dry, a pasta and a kids burger and some drinks. When my order was brought out the chicken sandwhich came with cheese inside and pickles between the chicken and bottom bun (I dont like the pickles from there hense why i ordered plain and dry) plus the spear pickles on the side. I told whoever brought the food that i asked for it plain and dry and they took it back and came back less than a minute later and left right away before i could check. I checked and it still had the sliced pickles inside with no cheese but you could tell they only removed it because there was cheese strings still inside the sandwhich, which is not a problem (but what if i was lactose intolerant or allergic). I got annoyed and just decided to eat the chicken and top bun because the bottom bun was soggy from the pickles plus the chicken had the flavor of the pickles which i didnt like. Sherlyn came back and asked how was everything and we just told her about how it was messed up the first time changed it and again the 2nd time was still messed up. Mind you we werent mad or yelling or being rude we just told her what happened. She offered to fix it and i said no its ok thank you and she mumbles somethibg under her breath and walked away no apologies no nothing. She later came asked if we were ok and i said just a sprite please. Brings it back and walks away. We finished eating and we paid right away and left. As we were walking towards the cashier to leave i made eye contact with sherlyn and she had a rude face and didnt even thank us or anything i still however said bye thank you and she continued to walk away in silence. We sat to take a picture and all the people standing at the cashiers area kept staring at us like in a rude way. This is the 2nd time coming ever and both times have had the same experience. My first time coming with my sister they messed up my same order 2 times and her order was messed up 3 times. This is ridiculous and not even an apology from anybody. What excuse can I credit them in order to justify this 1 star? Let me begin with the good. The store was jam packed. Always a good sign for any business. Though we were a big party, we were sat down almost immediately. The waiter was relatively attentive at first. The 2 appetizers we ordered came out hot, fresh and fast. Moving forward...

Here is where the issues begins. The area where we were seated was warm. AC issues? Since we had a large party, the waiter seemed to be paying less and less attention as his tip would be included. When our appetizers came out, that's the last we heard of our waiter. 45 minutes later we asked about our meal. He said it would be out in 5 minutes. In total, we waited 1.5 hours until the decision was made to walk out. We left because every one of the other patrons next to us got their food and even others who just walked in and sat down close by received their food before a refill was offered to us. I left money on the table to compensate for the appetizers. What made it worse was that I invited my brother, his wife and kids to go there as they have never been. What a first impression. My brother made an effort to speak with someone in charge but by that time the damage was done and the "manager" that took the complaint was unequipped to make things right.
