Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in McAllen

It's not impressed one bit for service when I got to the register the guy doesn't put his two cents worth, second every area of the buffet was a mess I went to the grill counter to ask for a steak medium rare and he had no idea what I was talking about. he doesn't understand the preference of what a steak supposed to look like when it's either medium rare. Poor management they have no idea what I'm talking about they're guessing what the structure of the meat is and I'm telling him it's red it's hot pink center has no idea what I'm talking about. Management needs to train people how to operate the grill. There were a bunch of steaks there's one that are well done that's fine but he has no idea how to cook a steak a steak was bland poorly seasoned that's disgusting. The employees don't look happy and they look overworked and underpaid. they I asked people a question they don't it seems like they don't even care about their job it's like you can't even get a decent answer. Not happy very very sloppy for service. I wouldn't take a homeless person to eat here. Too many children running around the restaurant not caring giving a care of the world of people's boundaries walking around the restaurant and getting gumballs and running around No parental guidance whatsoever and that should be a caution issue I'm surprised OSHA hasn't gotten after them as well. It was great Golden corral was great when I was on North 10th Street they would bring you the hot rolls to your table people were happier than and everything was clean management was a lot better today no passion whatsoever just putting slop on a counter that's not environment that's not hospitality that's just disgusting. They should have called the Golden corral that she called the Golden trough I'm surprised Wilbur from Charlotte's Web doesn't eat there. In conclusion I will never eat here ever again I don't care what the special is I don't care what the price is thank God I know how to cook cuz I rather...

I used to love golden corral! when it was in north McAllen many years ago we would go every Sunday for breakfast with the kids & it was always awesome! but ever since they moved it to the Jackson south location it has become a place I will not recommend! the first time I went was about a year after they moved, I swore off this place then for the same reason I'm about to post NOW! Poor quality food nearly anytime of the day, cross contamination of foods, dirty food service areas, cold below temp food, poor selections, dirty plates and bowls horrible conditions! here's a sad commentary their bathrooms are cleaner than the food areas!! have you been in the bathrooms? wow..we came here to eat a nice meal we all wanted different eats so it made sense to do a buffet! it had to better by now right?? NOPE WRONG! I knew the instant I walked in it was a mistake that it was NO better than years before!! we spent nearly $60 for 3 people, I walked the buffet found it in deplorable conditions just as before, no fresh food was available at 7PM no less, old burnt, dry or crusty foods no decent selections, so sat at my table with nothing to eat the kids came back in a few mins and found very little they liked to eat~I asked my kids if we could leave I told my kids I has having none of this I wanted a refund and they agreed..! we got the manager and told him the same I wanted a refund we have only been in the restaurant 7 mins and found it to be less than the quality we would expect!! the food condition's were horrible, & there was no fresh foods available, in My opinion do not eat here its never going to be right there was at least a 5 year span maybe longer between our first visit and now and NOTHING has changed! I see all the great reviews and have to laugh when I realize the bar for what most will accept as edible is so low for so many !! as they cant figure out why they feel sick after they eat here!! or this food is better than at home?? yikes...

Came here on the last day of being on a deployment down here in the RGV for 3 months with 3 of my friends. First off the steak….thing I ate was bad, tasted awful and was dry. I tried a couple other foods just to see what’s good, none of it was good besides the Mac and cheese being decent and the popcorn shrimp. I tried the pizza because, it’s just pizza, it can’t be that bad. I was wrong, it smelled like a wet dog and tasted like cardboard that was sat on by someone with swamp booty. None of the foods to choose from looked very appealing, everything seemed either really dry or smothered in oil. My other buddy got some chicken tenders, Cajun pasta, and some veggies and the look of disappointment on his face when he tried it was hilarious. The chicken was drier than the sand in Iraq, the Cajun pasta had enough oil on it I’m surprised we weren’t ordered to attack Golden Corral for it, and somehow the broccoli was bad, idk how that’s possible. My other friend that decided it’d be a good idea to come here was heartbroken because it was so good when he went to Golden Corral as a kid. I was also a bit disappointed because I’m originally from the southeast, and Golden Corral is known as a top tier buffet over there, which it is. We are not picky eaters, we’re all soldiers who eat DFAC food on base, we’ve had bad food more times than I can count, but this was just downright horrible.
