House of China — Restaurant in McAllen

walked in told the older guy table for one. He told me where my table was so I pointed to a table he said NO with an attitude. He obviously didn't want to escort me to my table so I told don't worry about it ilI' figure it out. I got more attitude & he showed me to my table. I ordered sweet tea & I got raspberry tea. I couldn't get the waiter's attention so I took my beverage to him & swapped it for a coke. Worst tasting Chinese food I've ever had. The service was bad. When I needed a refill I went & got it myself. I have never seen a Chinese restaurant with a drive thru. I didn't see one Chinese person in the restaurant, all the help was Hispanic. The same guy at the door walked around watching customers getting food. He reminded me of a prison guard (I use to be one). The floor was filthy & the bathrooms were worse. The smell was so bad I didn't use the restroom I waited until I found a convenient store. I asked for my check & after 10 minutes I just went to the cashier. She never asked how was everything which actually better because my Grandmother always told if u got nothing nice to say then say nothing. I will never come back to this dump. I really wish I would of read the reviews be for I went there. I left no tip & honestly I don't remember the last time I didn't leave some...

If I could give this place ZERO stars I so would. There was a few empty trays so we had to wait for fried rice, broccoli beef...no biggie. Our server however NEVER came to our table other than to throw down some napkins and forks. The hostess was fantastic! She brought us our drinks, got us refills, took dirty plates we were done with. The biggest thing was upon eating dessert I found mold on a little cake after I had just ate one of those small squares. My fiance took my plate to the front to the Asst. Manager Miguel Munoz who's reply was Oh then took the plate to the kitchen. The whole rest of the time we were there he NEVER came to the table to apologise ask if there was anything he could do nothing. Upon leaving the lady at the register asked if everything was alright. My fiance was like no she had mold on her food and the manager couldn't even say he was sorry. So the girl at the register caught the mangers attention and asked him if she should give me a discount and he said oh yes give them 10% off. So our bill went from 27.98 to 25.98...... I will NEVER go back there. Be mindful of what...

I would describe my experience during lunch hours at this restaurant as "satisfactory." I think there is definitely some improvements to be made as far as the quality and variety of the food served. However, I do have to mention the manager and the servers are doing a great job as far as keeping the customers happy, you can tell they are really big on that as they do stay on the balls of their feet especially when it is busy. FINAL VERIDICT: The reason why I only gave 3 stars is because like I said they can improve the quality as well as the variety of the food they serve. Also a little improvement on the actual establishment would not be a bad idea. But then again for the price of the buffet you can't really expect a 5...
