Initio Lounge — Restaurant in McAllen

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share this experience.

During my visit, the individual who presented himself as the owner was extremely unprofessional. When a member of our group politely addressed him as “sir” while asking if an additional guest could join our reservation, he openly laughed at her and made her feel foolish for simply being courteous. His behavior continued throughout the evening, as he hovered uncomfortably close while we were taking photos. When my friend handed him her digital camera for a group picture and politely explained how to use it (since every camera works differently), he laughed in her face again and said, “You think I don’t know what I’m doing?” He also unnecessarily criticized her for carrying a purse, implying she was out of place, which added to the uncomfortable and unwelcome atmosphere.

Beyond the poor service, the dining conditions were subpar. The air conditioning was not functioning, leaving the restaurant uncomfortably warm. Even worse, the salmon we were served was undercooked and unsafe to eat.

Overall, the atmosphere was unpleasant, the service unwelcoming, and the food quality unacceptable. This was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I’ve ever had, and I would not...

Last time I'm coming here. You know it's just one of them days. You just don't know what's going on for the day. And of course, i ain't dressed for the occasion. So what do they do treat you like you ain't got money so they ONLY pay attention to the well formal dressed people which is fine but don't assume I have no money to tip.. The first and last time I ever visited. Let alone let any colleagues know of this dump. Do better on letting guests feel at home at ease, even just at the entrance. Already trying to assume I'm not welcome....

Very pretty lounge with exceptional service. The owner and manager are very nice and introduced themselves before walking us through their business. The bathrooms are extremely clean and the interior is nicely decorated.

The hookah room is separate from the restaurant but you can eat and drink in the room. The hookah itself is top quality and smokes better than other places in town that charge $100. I’ll definitely be returning to this place with friends for...
