Joelene’s McAllen — Restaurant in McAllen

Jolene’s used to be my favorite go-to spot. Their friend chicken was delicious, juicy and addicting. I have always recommended this place to all my family and friends because the food was to die for, especially their mac and cheese! I ranked their Mac and Cheese #1 in the valley. However, my last three visits have been disappointing. The chicken now lacks flavor and they never have their mac and cheese ready for sale. I have gone at many different times, early in the afternoon, midday and evening, and they never have their mac and cheese available. Their food doesn’t taste the same anymore. It’s bland. Wow! Surprising in a great way. Simplistic but food is really tasty!

Got the chicken sandwich. The spicy version gives it a nice kick. Price is pretty reasonable as you get to choose a side for free.

While the chicken sandwich looks simple. It delivers on crispiness and juiciness. The flavor is also great. Each bite leaves you wanting more and there's no grease like with some fried foods. I got the fries as my side. It tasted pretty much like chick fil a fries. Did its job.

Joelene’s is in the Mercado district in McAllen which is like a miniature mall with tiny adorable bazaar-type shops and a really nice food court. It’s very clean, cute and new and all the restaurants are a really good quality. There are tvs everywhere with music. Perfect bustling atmosphere which was great for lunch and that’s when we went here. You order and they text you when it’s ready.
