This sushi restaurant used to be fantastic. Sadly, we have gone three additional times to give it a shot, but we have encountered angry and combative wait staff and rude managers. We actually had a waiter who we gave feedback to who seemingly clenched fist and was ready to fight instead of listening to what could be done better. Management was directly told about this issue and did absolutely nothing. Since that time we’ve gone to additional times because everybody has a bad day. We also really liked the food. Additionally, when we ordered a dish which was sashimi the wait staff promptly delivered our order without telling us that portion size had been reduced as well as the number of pieces on the dish. As a customer I wish they had just gone up in price. I’m always willing to pay more for a good product. And wait staff should be advised especially when no menus are being handed out to tell customers when portion sizes and the number of pieces served on a dish have actually changed. This was disappointing because we used to eat at this location 2 to 3 times a month and spend well over $80-$150 during each visit. It’s just sad to see that good restaurants aren’t able to find good help and when confronted with an issue are unwilling to change. That is what has made this a bad experience.
We actually asked our waiter for miso soup after waiting 30 minutes for our meal and his response as mentioned above was combative and he stated, that’s not my job that’s the bus boys job. One reported to a manager absolutely nothing was done. This is extremely sad because we gave this location three opportunities, after three years of visiting, to improve. We do realize it’s also tough during this time to find people that actually want to properly serve and service customers. It’s my hope in the future that this location improves. We really enjoyed coming to this location until it got to the point of being...
Read moreWhat a disappointing experience it was to go to this kumori location. My complaint is not with the service since the server was a pretty chill and cordial young gentleman, my complaint is with the quality of the food.
As an appetizer, my fiancé and I ordered some Calamari which we immediately had to send back. The calamari was very very!!! cold and soggy which yells me that it came out of the kitchen like that. As for the sushi, I have been working as a New Restaurant Opening Specialist for almost 10 years now and I have tried sushi all over the country and I have never seen tuna and salmon with such a disgusting color. I couldn’t even recognize what type of fish it was. For the looks of it, it is only a matter in time before somebody gets sick. I did brought it up to my server’s attention and he said that people had been complaining about the same problem.
My biggest disappointment wasn’t even with the food, it was with management. I have been in the restaurant industry for most of my life and when a guest want to voice some complaints, it’s management decency to speak with the guest to de-escalate the situation or at least just to show some manners. But we left the restaurant without ever seeing the manager. What I can’t seem to understand is how can a manager let food in those horrific conditions leave the kitchen and let them go to the table? The only answer that I am able to formulate is that, they just don’t care and it shows based on the quality of food they deliver. For me, I won’t be going to kumori ever again and I hope this review is able to help other people into making a better choice on where to go to...
Read moreI want to start by saying that I have been a long-time customer of 25 years, but after much learning and training about hospitality, I have to say, this franchise is seriously lacking in maintaining basic service standards.
I was there yesterday, and the floor at this location is always sticky. It never fails. As soon as I walk in the door, I can feel the unpleasant tackiness underfoot. This has been a consistent issue that needs urgent attention.
The edamame I ordered was dry and far from the quality I expect. It's disappointing when a simple dish can't be executed properly.
What was even more concerning was the staff's behavior. The majority of the team on board was sitting around, on their phones, seemingly uninterested in their responsibilities. My glass of water was empty, and as I looked around for someone to help, it was clear that no one was paying attention. The staff were either standing around, chatting, or still engrossed in their phones.
Only my server and the girl he was training seemed to be working diligently. Maybe the other employees hadn't started their shifts yet, but if that's the case, they should be out of sight from customers, either in the back or outside.
It's disappointing to see such a decline in service at a place I used to love. Unfortunately this location and the one at the mall where a hair turned up in my roll, are not options for me anymore. I hope Kumori management takes these issues seriously and makes the necessary improvements. Loyal customers like me...
