Review of Main Street Steakhouse — 920 N Main St Suite 100, McAllen, TX 78501 Walking into Main Street Steakhouse, my hopes were set pretty high. The atmosphere was upscale, cozy, and inviting—exactly what you'd expect from a high-end steakhouse. I started with a dirty martini, which was actually quite good, though I was surprised they didn’t have Kettle One or Chopin vodka available, and they didn’t offer blue cheese olives. Not a dealbreaker, but a bit unexpected given the overall ambiance. For an appetizer, I ordered the tuna tartare. Unfortunately, it had a noticeably fishy taste, to the point that I stopped eating after just a couple of bites. Hoping the main course would redeem things, I went with the surf and turf. Visually, the plate looked decent, but that’s where the positives ended. The steak was tough and rubbery—difficult to even cut, let alone chew—and the lobster tail was overcooked and dry. Both were inedible after a single bite. The manager did come over and apologize, offering us a complimentary crème brûlée to make up for it. Sadly, that too was a letdown: undercooked, runny, and lacking the crisp top you'd expect from a proper crème brûlée. When the manager returned, he admitted he had tried to cut into my steak himself and couldn’t get through it either—so it wasn’t just me. At that point, I was ready to chalk it up to an off night and consider giving them another shot sometime. But then the bill came—it ended up being a little over $180 including a decent tip—and to my surprise, the inedible main course hadn’t been comped. That was the final disappointment. If the manager himself couldn’t cut the steak and acknowledged the issue, how do you not remove it from the bill? I genuinely wanted to like this place. The setting is promising, but they clearly need a more consistent kitchen and a management team that understands how to make things right when they go wrong. For now, I can’t recommend it—and I won't be back unless some serious changes are made. Rating: 1/5

Main Street Steakhouse was a wonderful experience. As soon as we walked in we loved the cozy atmosphere. It was easy to hold a conversation while also enjoying the background music. The ribeye steak was perfectly cooked to order and came with a delicious well prepared baked potato. The sirloin steak was also cooked well and was tender. We enjoyed a glass of Merlot & Pinot Noir over dinner. We decided to try the chocolate volcano with a scoop of ice-cream after dinner. It was the perfect choice to top off our dinner. We had great service that is often expected at a high end restaurant. In addition, we had the pleasure of meeting the manager Victor Laro who held a great conversation and really made us feel like we made a new friend. We hope to return.

We saw this location online and decided to go out and have dinner there. I made the reservation on Saturday afternoon for the evening and the person who assisted me was very nice. We arrived in time and we were seated right away. Our waiter Joseph was very knowledgeable on the wine list and mixed drinks. He recommended a drink for my wife and a Cabernet for myself. Joseph took our order and the food did not take long to come out. My wife had the surf and turf and I had the New York Strip steak. Everything on our plates were delicious. I cannot say enough on how great my steak was. Overall it was a great experience for myself and my wife. Joseph made our experience memorable. I allready recommended this place to all my friends.

Decided to give Main Street Steakhouse a try based on their glowing Google reviews, and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint! Making a reservation was quick and easy thanks to the convenient Google reservation feature. When we arrived, the place was practically empty, which initially had us a little concerned—but that concern quickly faded once the food and service started rolling in.

We kicked things off with the cheese fondue. While it wasn’t technically a fondue, it was still enjoyable. My only small suggestion would be to warm up the bread it’s served with for a better experience. However, the warm rolls they brought out before the appetizer made up for it. Paired with their herb butter and chimichurri, they were an absolute hit!

For our main course, we all ordered the tenderloin, and it was perfection—perfectly cooked, a clean cut of beef, and packed with flavor. The twice-baked potato was excellent, complementing the steak perfectly. We also added a side of fries, which turned out to be surprisingly good.

The service was top-notch. Our server was attentive, checking on us often without being overbearing. The restaurant itself was clean, well-organized, and had a great ambiance, though I’d recommend switching up the background music—Christmas music at the end of January wasn’t ideal.

Their liquor and wine selection is extensive, and the prices are very reasonable compared to other steakhouses in the area. In fact, I’d say Main Street Steakhouse easily beats out Ambra and Santa Fe Steakhouse. This place has officially become my go-to spot for steaks, and I can’t...
