Pokeworks — Restaurant in McAllen

Where to start? The fact that this big city franchise was brought down and constructed from ground up to our little pocket of the world during a raging pandemic and STILL manages to have the BEST customer service at a time where finding good employees is so rare definitely blows my mind. It shows the working environment, dynamic and culture of the owners and how much they truly care for their employees and customers. A++ for incredible staff and owners. Moving onto the food - as a vegetarian who doesn’t even eat seafood, I went to show support for these small business owners who put their heart and soul into opening this eatery in such difficult times. I have never had a poke bowl in my life and was so excited to see a vegetarian option on their menu so of course I had to try it. All I have to say is that I have already been there twice and they just opened today. I’ll let you figure out what that means. A++ for FRESH, healthy and yet still SCRUMPTIOUS ingredients that leave you full but not in that gross lethargic way. Lastly, the vibe you get by just walking in through those doors are of nothing but happiness, friendliness and just an all around warmth of being truly welcomed. I think, no I KNOW, I found my multiple times a week lunch spot! I’m so dang proud to know that there are people in our community who care about our city being known as one of the fattest in the nation and decided not to bring another fast food chain down here. Will continue updating my review - wish I could give more...

To the Owner and Upper Management: I order from Pokeworks 10th OFTEN. This is by far my favorite place to eat out.

I believe I am speaking for a good majority of customers here -

Please standardize the portion control. On some days, bowls are filled to the top. On other days, bowls are barely HALF FULL. I'd like to expect the same portions every time I order.

It has now gotten to the point where I wonder if my order will be filled by the employees who give normal portions, or by the employees fill half the bowl.

I will adjust my rating to a 5 Star once I see consistent improvement in this area. Otherwise, the food quality, taste and customer service is always an EXCELLENT 5/5. I am also really happy to see that there are less orders that omit and forget extra sauce as that has been a problem in the past.

The Poke bowls from here are good, the Spicy Tuna is my favorite, they seared mine with a blowtorch.

They have many many options to choose from for toppings, and for proteins also. Beware that they have made a change to their policy, if you ask for non-priced ingredients such as edamame they will charge you extra.

The staff here is so wonderful and kind, I asked what the Spam looking thing was and they kindly explained it to me and gave me one for free( the Spam Musubi was very delicious, the sweet taste from eal sauce was incredible), that is amazing customer service.

Overall I would definitely recommend and I do see my self returning...
