As a supporter of the specialty coffee community here in the Rio Grande Valley, it is deeply disappointing to see how Reserve Coffee Roasters continues to approach customer service. Over the course of several visits to multiple locations, I have made a sincere effort to give this business the benefit of the doubt — only to be repeatedly met with disorganization, poor communication, and a clear lack of accountability from ownership.
It has become increasingly apparent that the well-being of both customers and staff takes a backseat to profit at Reserve Coffee Roasters. Workers appear overburdened and unsupported across locations, creating an environment where basic service standards are often not met. Attempts to bring legitimate concerns to management have consistently been dismissed or met with defensiveness. Rather than addressing issues directly and constructively, the owner — Michelle — seems more focused on offering excuses than solutions, often citing personal obligations rather than taking meaningful steps to ensure that her businesses are properly staffed and responsibly managed.
Today's incident at the drive-thru location — where I was quoted one price, charged another, and met with irritation when I asked for clarification — only reinforces a longstanding pattern. The refusal to provide access to a manager on-site and the continued practice of leaving frontline workers unsupported is not sustainable, nor is it fair to employees or customers.
It is unfortunate to witness a business with so much potential repeatedly squander opportunities for goodwill. True leadership would involve empowering and supporting the staff, investing in training, and creating a culture where both employees and customers feel valued — not simply offering excuses after the fact.

McColl & Nolana (East) and was extremely disappointed to see that they had added a fee to my bill for using the drive-thru window. I do not believe that this is fair or justified and I would like to express my disagreement with this policy.
Firstly, I think that the drive-thru service is an important and convenient feature that should be offered to customers without any additional charges. It allows people to get their food or beverage quickly and easily without having to leave their car, which can be especially useful for those with disabilities, young children, or anyone else who may not be able to easily enter the Cafe.
Secondly, I don't think it's fair to charge extra for a service that is already included in the price of the food. The cost of the food should already cover the cost of preparing and packaging it, regardless of whether it's being picked up in the Cafe or at the drive-thru window. Charging extra for the drive-thru just feels like a way for the Cafe to make more money without providing any additional value to the customer.
Overall, I strongly disagree with the decision to charge extra for using the drive-thru window and I hope that the Cafe will reconsider this policy. Read moreFirst time going here yesterday and I asked for my coffee to be “extra hot” the girl who took my order agreed and so I thought ok she understood what I mean by extra hot - but when I got my coffee it was lukewarm like not even any steam coming off of it. It tasted good but like I said I had asked for it “extra hot” and since it took about 10 minutes to bring me my order at the window (I was the only car in line) I thought she had granted me my request. Now being that this SMALL coffee cost nearly $7 I would have assumed that it would be the most dang good coffee that I had ever had but maybe I should have asked for an iced coffee.
