I’ve been to Chop Shop a total of three times, twice on a Sunday to watch F1. The first time I went there wasn’t a lot of energy or helpfulness from the servers or staff but I figured it was the fact that they were just opening. I was forgiving and went back to watch F1 on a Sunday a few weeks ago. I called ahead as I do recognize that it is Sunday and here in America football takes priority. When I called they said it was fine as Sunday football would be over at 3pm. I had trouble getting them to change the channel that Sunday, even though I had just talked to them some 30 minutes prior, and we also had trouble getting them to acknowledge our table and bring our drinks. We noticed that others were getting served and we weren’t. Come to find out, several people were either fired or walked out so apparently there was some confusion on who was going to serve our table. We got the “trash can nachos” which were decent. We decided to come back again for the next F1 race. I called ahead and asked a few days before if they would be willing to put it on a screen, and they said when we got there to just ask. So at 11:45am on a Sunday we arrived and asked them to switch the channel. We had already ordered drinks and was ready to have a good time. They argued and said that the channels were preset and that we should have asked, and we did. They were not willing to change the channel despite having just two other tables busy there with a total of at least 6-10 TVs showing the exact same thing. If someone is willing to spend money on food and drinks at your establishment, and is coming for a particular game or race, and your establishment isn’t busy, it would be a good idea to switch a single tv for them and accommodate. They would not, so we walked out. The poor service from last time and the odd “rules” this time (even when I called ahead) made them lose business - we decided to take it to The Elwood right down the way - which was happy to show the F1 race for us, even though they were a little bit busier, perhaps...
Read moreI'll start with good. Lot's of people go here so it's a fun place. Also, it's a great atmosphere. The upstairs is a really cool place to hang out with people and talk without loud music. Downstairs is definitely much louder. They also have a few games (including a pool table). Now for the bad. The men's bathroom door is broke and won't close but rather than fixing the issue, they simply put up a sign that says "door doesn't lock, knock before entering". Seriously? It's been this way for 3 weeks too! You can't be bothered to at least fix the dang door? I have to push the cabinet in front of the door just to prevent it from opening. That's inexcusable. Now to the food, the picture I posted is the "Tennessee Hot Chicken". It says the chicken is "fried chicken tossed in our house made tennessee hot sauce,". It was tough fried chicken with a VERY salty dry rub. No hot sauce whatsoever. It was a complete disappointment as it looked really good when they served it to me. Also, I've had the Trashcan Nachos and those are just average. They don't put much queso Blanco on the chips at all. I did have the onion rings and they were pretty good. As for the alcohol, they don't have a great selection of local beers which is a disappointment but many of you might not care. But also, their spirits selection isn't all that great. I ordered the Old Fashioned using Bulleit whisky and wasn't made all that great. To sum up, great crowds, fun atmosphere, crappy food and drinks. Oh, and the service (unless you buy from the bar) is REALLY slow. I think it's because they don't have enough servers. I had to wait a LONG time for my beverages (even finding my waitress to remind her I needed a drink). Right now, this is not a place...
Read moreToday 6/22/2024 my son & I had lunch. We were greeted nicely by bartender. The place was empty there was only a couple. We sat & waited. The waitresses scattered 1 with green hair & a black girl. After 5 mins passed the black girl came out but stopped first with white couple to ask if they needed anything than about 2mins later mosied her way to us. Spoke to us with a cultivated white mean girls voice. After that I did not want to even look at her. The very few times she came over I sd to my son you respond to her because my eyes may just burn her. The young man who brought us our food I should have slipped him a tip. I know the waitresses share what they choose from a tip with servers & cooks. I told my son leave a penny & maybe she will get the hint. He sd, no we leave nothing. Here is what annoys & angers me. My son doesn't understand because he looks white & I don't. I am 11 generations Spaniard, Egyptian, French, Chinese & Native American Indian. Am a lighter shade of brown. I expect white people to treat me poorly because they are ignorant. But I will not accept ever for a darker skin person to treat me like a second rate person. We dropped $50 for lunch on a simple meal. Their were a few others who walked in after us & waitress was handing them their menu before they sat down. hope the black girl waitresses is reading this review, YOU are a disgrace to your race & to people of...
