I’ve always loved Mi Cocina and generally have a great experience at each location. After moving to McKinney, I was excited that the Hub 121 location was only a block away. Well that excitement was short lived.
I’ve eaten at this restaurant once and ordered to-go from this location at least 4 times and every single time, I swear I won’t come back. This is the most poorly run location in the entire franchise.
To start, my first experience was dining in and after waiting OVER an hour after placing our order, our food came out. They were busy so I thought ehhh we will give them the benefit of the doubt. Our food came out COLD. Not cool like it had been sitting under a heat lamp waiting to be brought out, I mean COLD as in was cooked the day before and then put in the fridge overnight cold. We complained to our server, who said she could ask them to remake it but that the kitchen was backed up and it would likely be at least 30 minutes. We declined and opted to leave, but figured we would try again on a less busy day.
We have now ordered take out via their website on four occasions, each time thinking about convenience since the restaurant is only a block away. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. we have ordered the app gives us a time (usually 25-30 minutes) that our order will be ready, and all four times we have shown up at appointed time only to find a huge line of customers all waiting for take out. Two times we waited approximately 45 minutes. Once it took about an hour. Tonight we waited an hour and a half and never received our order. We just gave up and walked out.
The three times we did receive our order, part of the items that we paid for, including entire meals or plates for one of us, was missing from the order. We have called each time and requested a refund for the missing items. Twice the manager apologized and issued a credit back to our card. The other time after waiting on hold for nearly 30 minutes after speaking to a fairly rude hostess, the “manager” said you can come back and show your receipt and wait for us to remake it but I’m not issuing a refund.
Since we waited so long tonight, I can only assume the manager will not be readily available to take my call so I will likely wait and call tomorrow to request a refund.
Avoid this location at all costs. They aren’t the greatest at customer service, and apparently the back of house and kitchen logistics are a nightmare because it has been a complete disaster every chance we have given them. I will take the $150+ I was planning on spending on mediocre Tex-mex and go next door to Bob’s Steak and chophouse. At least there I know I’ll have a great meal and courteous service. Mi Cocina at McKinney Hub 121 fails on every level. So...
Read moreAfter a long stressful morning my kids and I decided to come eat at Mi Cocina for lunch and it was such a disappointment. We've been to almost all locations around Dallas since 2018 and as a former employee/waitress at two different locations I could say I've memorized the menu even off menu items and can say I know what their computer system looks like. First we get our drink order down, I ask for two waters and a kids soda but get a regular glass. No biggie, my toddler knows how to drink out of a glass. He noticed there's no kids cup for her so he says what would she like? Kids cups are free. I'm confused but just go with it and say okay she'll have a kids Sprite. Again. And I go ahead and order a Mambo. Maybe ten minutes go by and no Mambo or kids cup. I didn't bother bringing it up. He apologizes for the bartender saying he was running late. Uhm okay a Mambo takes 30 seconds top to prepare. Anyway we order our food, sunset fajitas and enchiladas. Doesn't take long to get to the table and that's when I get the Mambo. Side note that would've been unacceptable the years I worked for the company. Another side note fajitas always come with a side plate, tortillas and either just guac or guac and pico. I ask for the guac and I'm told those fajitas don't come with guac but I'll bring you some. Cool please bring me some thanks. We eat, food is great never disappoints. My kids are done eating but I'm not, I still have a plate full of food and a full drink. My kids get up to the restroom I leave my phone on the table as a hint I'm coming back and I didn't just walk out without paying. I come back to the table the server and bussers have all our plates stacked and ready to be thrown away. Like what? I STILL HAVEN'T EVEN PAYED I wasnt even gone for 5 minutes. Manager notices and offers to remake my food to go. Cool. I pay online and notice I'm charged for the guacamole that comes with the plate. I pay anyway and just can't wait to get out of there. So disappointing when a server doesn't know the menu and doesnt offer the same quality service that is supposed to be taught at a restaurant with high prices and nice environment. I just witnessed this guy be mediocre at best and hoped for the best but throwing away my food just killed it. Won't be coming back here again. Please teach your employees...
