I visited the Denizen Hotel today and had booked a King Suite two months in advance for a two day stay. Upon arrival, the male front desk staff and female manager informed me that my room was unavailable because a VIP group recently had reserved the entire floor, including the suite I had booked, starting the next day. They said I could stay in the suite for tonight only but would have to move to a regular King room tomorrow. They claimed the room had been double-booked, even though I booked well in advance.
The front desk staff assured me they would try to resolve the issue and escorted me to the room, stating they’d bring the keycard after consulting the manager. About 10 minutes later, the manager called the room and asked if I could switch to a regular room for the remaining two nights, offering a 50% discount as compensation. I expressed my frustration, questioning why I had to move despite booking months ahead, especially when the VIP group wasn’t even arriving until the next day. The situation felt completely unacceptable.
When I eventually told the manager I wanted to cancel and leave due to this unacceptable situation, they were very careless about it and didn’t even offer an apology as I left. This lack of concern only made the experience worse and confirmed how poorly this hotel handles customer service.
The manager seemed annoyed and eventually agreed to let me stay in the suite, but by then, the experience had already soured my mood. This whole ordeal was disorganized and unprofessional. They admitted that double bookings happen often because they use two different systems. This is absolutely ridiculous. Now, I’m left looking for another hotel because they prioritized a VIP business group over honoring my reservation. Avoid this hotel...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived until the day we left, we had a wonderful stay! The hotel is clean, modern, and quiet, with super comfortable beds and beautiful bathrooms. They’ve really thought of everything to make your stay easy. The grab-and-go area is great for snacks or even a quick meal, especially since the rooms have a microwave, big fridge, sink, dishwasher, and dishes. Photos are from the grab and go area.
There are several cozy seating areas with fireplaces, perfect for relaxing before heading out for the day. The location was excellent too—right off a major highway, yet surprisingly quiet with no traffic noise. Next door there are several great restaurants you can walk to easily like the Broken Yolk for breakfast. Overall, the hotel fit our needs perfectly, and we’ll definitely stay here again the next time we visit our friends in McKinney.
A very special shout out to Karen at the front desk who was always polite and...
Read moreMy wife and I had an event in McKinney this past weekend and since we live 45 minutes away we decided to stay the night in McKinney. We chose to try the Hotel Denizen at District 121 in Craig Ranch. It was a great experience all around. We chose a king room. The room was large and very clean with a surprisingly well equipped kitchenette. The bed had a very comfortable mattress and high end linens. The people there were also very friendly and helpful. We spoke with Karen at check in and I believe Aaron was the gentleman at the front desk when we checked out. The hotel is part of District 121 which has a number of restaurants within steps of the hotel. It was nice to be able to go out to breakfast without getting in the car. Just a nice stroll a few yards away. We enjoyed the experience and we plan on staying again when we have our next...
