Chef Sun's has established itself as a welcome addition to McKinney's dining scene, offering an impressive menu with thoughtful halal options for diners with dietary restrictions. Upon entering, you're greeted by a warm atmosphere that balances modern design elements with comfortable seating. The restaurant's lighting creates an inviting ambiance suitable for both casual lunches and evening gatherings. The menu showcases diverse offerings with clearly marked halal selections, making it easy for those seeking these options. Their halal dishes maintain authentic flavors while adhering to proper preparation standards. The kitchen demonstrates careful attention to prevent cross-contamination, which is reassuring for diners with specific dietary requirements.

Service stands out as exceptional, particularly from our server Jailyn, whose genuine warmth and attentiveness elevated the entire experience. Her sweet demeanor, thorough knowledge of the menu (including halal preparations), and thoughtful recommendations made us feel truly welcomed and valued as guests.

Flavor-wise, Chef Sun's delivers dishes that balance traditional techniques with creative touches. The halal options don't feel like afterthoughts but rather fully integrated menu items prepared with the same care as everything else.

For those in McKinney seeking quality dining with halal options, Chef Sun's proves itself worthy of a visit, offering a combination of excellent service, inviting atmosphere, and skillfully prepared dishes that accommodate dietary needs without compromising on taste...

Chef Sun Noodle and Dumpling has potential, but our experience left much to be desired. We arrived on a busy Sunday, only to realize there was no proper waitlist or hostess to organize seating. Despite arriving first, the party behind us was seated before us, which was frustrating. A simple waitlist system or a dedicated host could have made a big difference in keeping things fair and efficient.

Once seated, we noticed that the restaurant seemed short-staffed. We only saw three servers handling a packed dining area, which led to slow service and a somewhat chaotic atmosphere. The staff was doing their best, but it was clear they were overwhelmed.

As for the food, it was just okay. The flavors weren’t bad, but nothing stood out as particularly memorable. The biggest disappointment was the portion size. The restaurant serves their food on oversized plates, which gives the illusion of a generous serving, but in reality, the portions were quite small. For the price, we expected a bit more.

Overall, Chef Sun Noodle and Dumpling has good potential, but they need to improve their organization and portion sizes. A proper waitlist and more staff on busy days would make a huge difference. The food is decent, but with so many other great noodle and dumpling spots around, it’s hard to justify coming back unless they make improvements. With a few changes, this could easily be a...

Showed up on a Saturday evening and just stood in a line that went to the door. Staff just walked by. No one greeted the people waiting nor gave them any indication on how, when or what the process was to be seated. No hostess. Everyone in line just wondered how the seating process worked as staff just continued to walk by but not acknowledge the line. There was a long empty bar that many of us said we would gladly sit at along with there being open tables but still nostaff seated the guests standing in line. It was very unusual and needs immediate improvement.

Once seated they took our order quickly. The appetizer arrived prior to food which was nice. We ordered both our appetizer and entree at the same time since we were leery that it may take a long time for them to take our entree order. We ordered the crab puffs and they were good. Our entres were good as well. We did have to hunt our waitress down for more water as they don’t check on you. We also had to hunt her down for our check.

We’ll be back and hopefully by that time they will have worked out their service procedures as that is severely lacking. Staff was nice but clearly there is a gap in the actual hospitality/service process.

Fingers crossed they will get it worked out!! We’re...

6/18/25: This is my first and LAST time coming to this restaurant. I ordered the following: 1. Sweet pumpkin pancakes are just too oily. I have tasted plenty of tasty crispy Asian pancakes with fillings inside and never have tasted such oily pancakes Saturdays and drenched in oil. I took one bite and oil was dripping out. Gross. The rest ended up in the trash. 2. Combination Lomein - The beef, shrimp, and shrimp were cooked just right and tender, but the overcooked soggy noodles ruined the whole dish. 3. The soup dumplings are okay. I have tasted better. The skin is thicker compared to my favorite dumping places. The price is high for just six mediocre soup dumplings. There's only one kind of soup dumplings. 4. Hot and Sour Soup- My friend ordered a small cup or bowl of this soup. Oh my lordy! This place broke the record for putting the most cornstarch in their soup! It was thick like snotty thick. The name of the restaurant made me think they specialize in indifferent kinds of noodles and variations of dumplings but there's not many choices. Unfortunately, I never return to any restaurants that serve me overcooked soggy noodles.
