Ernesto's Fine Mexican Food — Restaurant in McKinney

First time here, LOVE it!

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food but Ernesto's changed my mind.

We started off with some drinks, since my stomach only agrees with Vodka, I requested a premium margarita with Vodka base but not tequila. Chris then made me the BEST margarita ever!! He even came check on me for feedback, of course I told him how much I liked it!

For food: Beef nachos - great! -- Tender meat and cheesy

Bacon wrapped shrimp - great! -- bacon crispy and shrimp perfectly cooked

Grill tilapia - great! -- garlic lime sauce is delicious

Service was awesome as well. Pamela was friendly and attentive. Most importantly, she got our order right and food arrived quickly, and thank you Pamela for relaying my request of drink resulting a prefect margarita.

We'll definitely go back. Highly recommended.

UPDATE: Went there twice more after first review, and you know what? Everything was GREAT!!

All I can say is, their food is GOOD! Tried all protein, chicken, steak, shrimp, fish, ALL GOOD!!

Service: Jonathan, Paloma, Louis, all friendly but not in your face kinda attentiveness.

As you approach the restaurant it looks like a typical restaurant in a suburban strip mall, however when you walk in the Mexican vibe is throughout.

There were plenty of Texas Rangers clad servers on this slower-paced Sunday evening dinner service. For the amount of servers present, the service was slow but maybe just relaxed.

All the dishes were excellent except one. Ernesto's platter is highly recommended for its variety in flavor. The fajita beef nachos Orwell flavored. Basic tacos or well-done. Carnitas tacos were good. The carne asada y enchilada was not executed very well. Ordered the steak medium rare and it came out well done. The guacamole was the size of a quarter. No homemade flour tortillas were given. The beef enchilada was amazing. If I had it to do all over again I just would have ordered a bowl of the be filling over the steak.

Bar selection was good with mass-produced and Mexican choices on the draft department and the mixed drinks looked good as well.

This place is a gem! I used to drive to Prosper, TX until they opened this location closer to my home. It is superb. The tortilla soup is the best in the area. The Ernesto's Salad with shrimp or the Taco Bowl Shrimp Salad are freaking incredible. No other eatery can compete with Ernesto's on those two. The Fish Taco's are a local favorite, and the BeerRita is over the top (bring a designated driver), get it with Dos XX., you won't be disappointed. The shrimp dinner they bring out flaming at the table is the best dinner at a resturant I have eaten in Texas in over 15 years. The service has greatly improved since opening day, and the management is always on top of everything, ( Jose) or another manager will ALWAYS come and say hello, thank you, and ask if everything is OK, sometimes several times during a meal. All of the wait staff are good, but our favorite is Erin, we just love her so much! I think the negative review written must have not been Ernesto's...
