Three of us came on the recommendation of a friend who came twice recently and loved it. But we had disappointing food and a comedy of misunderstandings with service. They opened only 2 weeks ago, perhaps just working out kinks. We all ordered salads and those were good (although one of us ordered a change of dressing which didn't happen). Our two pizzas (veg and salami) were way too salty, almost inedible, and the crust was very dry and burnt. Our server Daniel was enthusiastic and friendly, but stumbled over our order. I asked for the Mock Pina Colada, a berry drink was brought; I had to send it back. The Pina Colada had a lot of hot chilli powder, which was weird and made my tongue burn. We ordered half pizzas from the Happy Hour menu (clearly labelled 11am to 6pm, and we were there at 3:45), our server returned after we ordered, saying the kitchen closed Happy Hour at 3pm and we had to order full pizzas. Huh?? The General Manager came and was very kind and apologetic. He reconfirmed that the Happy Hour menu was changing and some types of half pizzas would not available. Then why give us that menu, or lie about timing? We left laughing and scratching our heads.

Very, very delicious and unique pizza! Homemade fresh dough with their own ingredients- amazing! Drink and daily lunch specials. Tuesday - all pies $15! Longgg happy hours with interesting and delicious drinks. Waitress Sarah was brought over from their other location and she lives and loves this place and you can tell her enthusiasm is contagious. We talked a long time about travel to Italy. “Song” is the bartender, but also helped us to our table and is part of the fabric of the place. Even though they have specialty drinks, Song went above and beyond, and made me a slightly different speciality drink and brought it to our table. (We were in off hours at 2 pm). If you are a foodie, you will love this place! We had a 1/2 prosciutto and half veggie pizza. Also, I had a couple of espresso martinis and my wife a few of the different flavors of mimosas. Greta open atmosphere with indoor and outdoor dining. ( sorry for the picts of half eaten pies! We were hungry and they are delicious!)

Giving 3/5 since service wasn’t the best. Food was good, but I had a hard time enjoying our time because of our server. He hovered close by to the point we felt we couldn’t have a conversation without feeling like we were being watched/listened to. And when he would come to actually check on us he’d get too close to our personal space. Left the whole party feeling uncomfortable. On top of that, his knowledge of brunch menu was subpar. We didn’t know that you can only order off of brunch menu at the time we went. I had originally came here in hopes to try the pasta, but was told it’s only served after 3pm. The server told us we could order pasta (he left to confirm this), and then 5 minutes after ordering it he came back and told us no. We settled on a the veggie pizza to share, it wasn’t bad. Hummus appetizer was definitely our favorite and would go back just for that. Hopefully with a better server.

On March 20, 2025, we dined at Pie Tap Workshop + Bar in McKinney, where we had made a reservation and were promptly seated.

Ambience and Cleanliness: The restaurant's interior was impressive and impeccably clean, even though we opted for the patio seating, which featured overhead heating to keep us warm on a chilly day. After being seated, we experienced a long wait with no service. My friend suggested that we should have chosen an indoor table, expressing concern that we would be overlooked outside. Eventually, our server, Michael, arrived. He was incredibly courteous and expressed sincere apologies for the delay. He explained the communication mix-up but assured us that he would take excellent care of us, and he certainly delivered.

Food Quality: For our appetizer, we ordered the chicken meatballs. While my friend found them quite enjoyable, I felt they were rather average. However, the garlic rosemary bread that accompanied the dish was absolutely delicious. For our main course, we both chose the chicken pie, which was a delightful experience. I rated it an impressive 8.5 to 9 out of 10. The crust was thin—not quite crispy, yet not soft or soggy either—and the toppings were delicious, though I would have appreciated a bit more.

There was just one downside to our visit. During our visit, the Mayor of McKinney arrived with a small group and sat at the table adjacent to ours. Unaware to me at the time who he was, they were treated as if they were royalty, receiving attentive service by numerous servers right away. The General Manager, Blake, also made several trips to check on the Mayor and his guests, yet not once did he inquire about our experience. This left me wondering if he even noticed that we were also seated on the patio. However, I did observe him checking in on the couple sitting behind us, which reinforced my suspicion that he was aware of other diners’ presence. Other than that, overall, it was...
