This establishment is not it, unfortunately. We went here about a week ago or so since we will be new residents of the brand new McKinney area, and wanted to check out the only Thai spot in the area considering it looked nice, it’s in a brand new area and brand new plaza so we were excited!
We went in and quickly realized it’s a very “to go/ take out” sort of restaurant. We were expecting and hoping for a more cozy, customer service friendly, full and busy restaurant with a big menu!
We were barely greeted and once we were, it was a “just pick wherever” type of thing. We ordered two dishes… one noodle dish and one basil chicken dish. I asked the waitress (who was herself very blah as if she wasn’t excited to be there) if the chicken could be cooked well done since I don’t like “white” chicken. She said, “okay!” During our wait time of waiting for it to be done and sent out, we noticed it was so quiet and the staff was just 3-4 people on their phones and playing cards! Just thought it was strange to visibly see by the customers. But how quiet the restaurant seemed to be, you would think their service would have been much better. The food finally comes out and my chicken was pale as pale gets. The noodle dish came out right. When they finally came over to ask if everything was okay, I just said what happened and it just didn’t seem like anyone bothered to do much about it besides ask me mid-meal if I wanted it to be sent back and remade. While I appreciate the gesture, it was too late and my only request that I did have was so simple. Sadly, it wasn’t executed or communicated it seemed like. Other things to note is… the overall presentation is just okay, they didn’t offer or have chopsticks I don’t believe, no spice rack that most will almost always have. They gave us regular chili flakes and that’s okay, but just not very authentic at all.
We left very blah about the dinner, about the establishment and...
Read moreCame here for Dinner and felt rushed at approximately 7:30. We ordered the crispy spring rolls and the crispy tofu and neither of the breading or wrap had flavor. The tofu tasted like I put a cardboard in my mouth. For the rolls we put the rolls on our plates and they took the dish they came on without asking just came and picked it up and left with the sauce. The only flavor we had. The kids meal was not described right because I got noodles and chicken with no absolute flavor. They took it out the water and put it in a plate to dry and I had to add my curry sauce and water to it so my baby didn’t choke. The green and yellow curry were okay not the best I give them a 3 out of 5. A little before or right at 8:30 a different lady who looked like she was in charge came up and said anything else the kitchen closes in 30 mins and I said yes I’ll get the sticky rice and mango and when it fiancé was about to talk she said we only have ice cream not mango so I said do you have other stuff she said yes so I said okay can I see a menu and she shook her head no and said I have ice cream and named different kind and I said ok. My fiancé asked if there was a menu and she just said ice cream no mango. The way she was standing and had her hand on her hip while just looking at us was rude. I said I’ll take a rice and coconut ice cream and she said K and walked away fast as my fiancé was ordering what he wanted. She didn’t bring out what he wanted and we had to share a plate for 3 of us. I asked for a Togo box and it didn’t fit my food and no one ever came back so I left it....
Read moreWe came here on Sunday at 6 to try it out, and there was a little wait. It's a small place, and with social distancing, not all tables are open. To go orders were taking about 30 to 45 minutes to be ready. They were definitely hustling to try to take care of everyone, and they were apologetic for the wait. They were super friendly and took care of us well from beginning to end.
The menu is pretty comprehensive for a Thai place. We wanted to try a soup, an entree each (2 of us), and a rice dish. We ordered the tom yum chicken soup. It was flavorful, a good bit of sour, a hint of the fish sauce, and lovely hints of lemongrass and cilantro. It wasn't oily at all which I appreciated. Delicious. My husband had the pad see ew. He had a full plate, and it was well seasoned, not overly saucy either. I ordered the garlic broccoli chicken with a switch to cabbage instead of broccoli. They handled the request perfectly. The sauce was a great mix of savory and a bit of sweetness, perfect with the rice. And then we ordered the Thai fried rice. This was also awesome, my second favorite Thai fried rice. (My fave is in Frisco, has a smoky wok-fired flavor.) The only issue we had was that we asked for spicy and there wasn't a bit of heat in any of the dishes. They did bring out some spices out, so we just added it ourselves.
We will definitely come back often when we crave Thai food and are in the McKinney area. Give it a try, but come with patience while they experience their opening...
