This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. My wife and I have been there many at times for lunch. Tonight went for dinner. After arriving through the rear entrance we noticed two tables at the bar area that were available, we asked the bartender if we could sit there she told us very nicely that we could not and you'd have to go put your name on the list, we did so, with two other parties that were before us. As we patiently waited, people would come in and walk straight back to the bar area and sit down for dinner, we thought that is odd. Then two tables opened up in the main room, but instead of taking from the list, waitress walked up to a party at 4 that just walked in and took them straight over to a table without even looking at the wait list ? (and no they did not have a reservation, we heard the whole conversation) On to our dinner. The waitress had a attitude because my wife mentioned something about what was going on to her. She took our order grudgingly, two dinner salads without cheese and a supreme pizza. One salad showed up covered in cheese, the other was OK, both we're good though (after removing the cheese) The pizza came out Very Salty. Don't think we will be back anytime soon, as we drove an hour for one...
Read moreSelf proclaimed food critic here....I really have never heard a bad review about this place. I will be completely honest and say that my son works here but rest assured that the review I give is honest and harsh no matter who is involved...that being said....Begonias lives up to the hype. I love pizza. I will travel 2 hours to eat my favorite pizza but I have a new favorite spot now and it's just 3 blocks down the road from me! The evening my husband and I went it was fairly busy and slammed within minutes of us sitting down. With any good resteraunt you will have a wait, It's a trade for having fresh food at your finger tips. The food was there within 20 minutes of ordering the main course which is totally acceptable. We had meatballs (made in house) and garlic cheese bread with balsamic glaze. We then ordered "The goat" pizza( for the hubbs) and a Pepperoni for the child. I ordered the T-bone and asparagus and it was superb. The steak grilled perfectly and the asparagus tender and perfectly cooked finished with just a touch of flakey salt. Yum. I wish I would have grabbed a photo before we dug in but I was to excited. If you're thinking about going I would highly suggest it. Hope this review helps with...
Read moreTraveled over five hours to the middle of nowhere for a weekend with a coworker. This place was really the only disappointment. We showed up, six deep, at 9pm on a Saturday night as google implied they closed at 11pm. The menu looked great, prices average and we were excited to enjoy a nice dinner. Nothing special about the front of house but people are smiling. A brick oven can be seen from the front door and observe 2-3 staff in and around the kitchen plus the server and host. We sit with our paper menus and the struggle began at drinks. Very limited options for adults and even less for children. Again, we chose this establishment for its supposedly wide selection. The waitress then let us know AT 9PM that the kitchen had been shifted to pizza only. I'm sorry WHAT? A good two hundred dollars just walked in your door and you can't even serve a salad or some pasta, they've got to be kidding. So when we realized they were 100% serious, we left. I'm glad I don't own that place, I'd be ashamed. To see the cooks be okay with all of us leaving was a slap in the face. Obviously I'm from out of state, maybe the locals get the...
