Restaurant staff left MUCH to be desired. They were extremely friendly with the locals, but those of us visiting they seemed to ignore. We waited 20 minutes for a server to come back to our table after bringing our drinks, and they never did. I had to place our order at the counter. A table next to us was seated and served immediately, and they were clearly regulars who knew the waitstaff. We then waited another 20 minutes for our order to be brought to us - still no server came to check on us. Lunch rush is understandable. Poor service is not. The food, once we finally received it, was delicious.
The kayak rental staff were clearly very young and need some serious coaching about customer service. They took our waiver info and left us on our own after that to find life jackets, paddles, the kayaks and load into the river. We were fine, but had we been first time kayakers or with kids, I would have been very unhappy at the lack of assistance. The river float experience itself was beautiful and just our speed. We were very happy with it. We did have to wait quite awhile for the shuttle, and once it did, the young staff again weren’t very helpful and gave no direction. The wait for the shuttle was understandable as it was a summer weekend day. The absence of anything resembling customer service was not.
The only reason for 3 stars is the quality of the float experience and the food. I had to dock a star for each poor customer service experience because they were THAT...
Read moreTook a party of 11 on Friday before Father's Day. Since we were a larger party we overlooked the waitress being visibly upset at our party size, overlooked them giving us 1 menu for 11 people, and even overlooked the drinks (1 girls was completely forgot) being late to the table and spread out. What we had a hard time overlooking was the fact all the tables around us were being served while we sat and waited. We had 1 little one who was in tears out of hunger and exhaustion. Between the 11 of us we ordered 3 app fries, 3 burgers and 4 kids tenders. Total between the whole 11 of us. Adults weren't super hungry so couples shared meals. Figured that would make it easier. Over an hour and a half later and only the little one who had tears has been fed. She was the only child, out of 4 who was given food. Adults are all served food while the other 3 children keep waiting. And patiently I might add for a 7, 9 and 10 year old. Our waitress then tells us there had been a mix up in the kitchen and they were NOW working on our kids chicken tenders almost 2 hours later! We finally get tenders at around 8:30, past two of the smaller ones bedtimes and then, to top it all off. We weren't even so much as offered an apology, much less a discount for the kiddos food taking so long. But then! But then we were accused of not paying for one of the childs meals! They lost 4 families worth of business in one night. Will never go back despite frequently camping at...
Read moreTent camping for four nights on site #26 (no electric). Setting was nice, overlooking the river. Only a few campers while we were there so very quiet. Good location with the river plus within walking distance of downtown and a public park. We did not kayak or eat at the restaurant(restaurant was busy). New bathroom and showers facility at the top of the hill. Nice building with separate and individual showers. Bathroom was usable clean, just would have liked more attention to detail as cobwebs in corners and tp not installed, just sitting on the ledge of the stalls. One of two sinks was plugged while we were there. Drive into campground had ruts from the rain. Steps were in the process of being built for a more direct route to the bathhouse (rather than walking up the road)
Our neighbors were the most disturbing, coming and going until well after quiet hours and with a loud muffler on their motorcycle, it was hard to sleep and made our dog anxious, the last night they got into a fight and were screaming at each other across the campground. Next campground, I'm going to make sure I have the after hours...
