Tacos El Gordo — Restaurant in McMinnville

Today 10/3/21 @ 6:00pm I had the unfortunate experience of making the decision to come and waste my money here for what seemed like a decent place to eat, don’t get me wrong, the layout of the place is good but the service and the food are a whole different story. While sitting at the table (outside dining area first table across the order counter) with my bottled drinks neither did the busser (Hispanic male, short pony tail) or the waitress (Isalbel, red face mask) acknowledged or greeted me, the busser had a bottle opener on his hip and didn’t even look my way to open them or offer water, the waitress neglected our table the whole time, not once did she come and offer water, napkins or any type of greeting or service. She came out multiple times to check on her tables that were parallel and adjacent to us not even 5 feet away, and not once did she look directly at us, as if no one was sitting there. When I tried to get her attention, I spoke loud enough for the tables to hear when I said “excuse me miss”. She just gave me her back and walked away. I went inside to ask for her name and when I did she rolled her eyes and had a sigh of annoyance and only then did she ask if we needed anything, she’s Hispanic and so are we, but it was very obvious that she catered to the white couples and ignored us completely. So if you’re white they’ll treat you right, but if your Hispanic good luck. Now the food.. I had a torta de pastor, the meat was bland the torta was sloppy and greasy, I also had 2 tacos de chorizo. The chorizo was charred on the outside and super greasy on the inside, the tortillas were soaked in grease and stale, so obviously I needed some napkins. I had to get up a couple times to bring some to my table since no one gave neither napkins or even water like everybody else had. Never coming back again. Rather go to a taco truck.

Si eres Hispano no te van a atender con atención o con un buen servicio aunque los meseros también son hispanos con el nopal en la frente, la comida está desabrida y necesitas mucha salsa y condimentos para que sepa decente, la verdad es mejor comer en casa o en una lonchera taquera, les dan preferencia a los anglosajones a ellos si les dan su agua les destapan sus botellas y les train sus servilletas. No gasten su dinero...

Oh man this was a fantastic taco stand.usually when you see tacos for less than $2 they are tiny with barely any feelings and the price on tacos here was 195 each. When I told the nice lady that I wanted to order some tacos she pointed out that there was a special 4 tacos and a can of soda for $7, I added on one more taco and had five expecting them to be tiny and empty as I said above.they were not tiny and not empty. They were fat and full they weren't giant but they were really good size and well-proportioned. Plus they had a salsa bar that had any fixing that you could imagine at a taco stand included in grilled onions grilled sweet peppers grill hot peppers and salsas and onions and cilantro and lime and more.this was a fantastic meal 9 bucks for five tacos and a can of soda. Preface my low rating by saying this place used to be my favorite taco and burrito joint in town and I was a regular. A bit too regular. They keep messing up my order and the last 3 or 4 times that I've gone, I've gotten back home to realize that at least one item is so different from what I've ordered that it's unedible. What makes it worse is that their prices have gone up dramatically over the last couple of years. So when something is unedible, it feels like a massive waste of money.

Tonight was bad enough that it pushed me to write a review. My wife loves this place too so she was excited when I brought some home from work. I had said after the last negative experience that I was done, but I hoped that it might recapture some of that old magic.
