I have tried spicer’s for many years. today was the third time in a row that my wife and I were disappointed with the service there. So many things were not acceptable. yes I had worked many years in the hospitality industry so my standards might be higher than most, but some things are just not acceptable. where do I start? the hostess dropped my fork and I asked for a new one, she said yes of course. she never replaced it. we sat 10 minutes before anyone greeted us and they asked if we wanted something to drink. a booth near us finished their meal and paid the bill. the table was cleared and another couple sat down. our waiter almost stopped at our table, but walked away to get a pen? After a many minutes he came back and took our order. No eye contact or any personality. Then a few minutes later he took to other booths order. That booth got their food a good 5 minutes before we did. The waiter dropped our food off at our table and I had to ask for a fork. seems that because we were not “regulars”, we were not important to the waiter or anyone else working there. No one ever checked back to us in our meal. our waiter dropped off our check with out ever asking how our breakfast was. Speaking of our breakfast, my wife and I asked for our hashbtowns to be well done. mine were but my wife’s were not. our toast were more like bread with warm butter. certainly not toast. someone needs to retrain the staff to look around and be aware of the other tables needs. My career is sales. if I treated my customer this way, I would not be in business long. it is all about making the customer experience a positive one. Getting them to want to come back. I will not be back to spicers. word of mouth is a powerful tool. sorry spicers, my words to friends and family will not...
Read moreI have been here numerous times, it was our go to place when we go out. Service is usually the best even if busy times. Today was not a super busy day. There were several empty tables in the section we were sitting.
Today was the worst service we have ever experienced at Spicers. We sat there for at least 10-15 minutes, for the first time ever NO ONE acknowledged us beyond the initial seating.
There was a server one booth away having a conversation with other customers. We believed this was likely our server, he made a sideways glance at us numerous times but NOTHING, not even the "one moment" finger. Was he our server? We never found out as we decided to leave as we deserved better service.
Had this been a super busy time we would have understood but we've had better service at their busiest times. I reached out to inform management but they asked us to leave a message. Obviously, their "give-a-damn" about customers is busted.
We took and will take our business elsewhere and will no longer recommend Spicers to others wanting great Cafe food as today's horrible service made a...
Read moreExcellent servers, great prices, delicious food! THE best biscuits & gravy - note the gravy does not have sausage in it, which I find PERFECT as the sausage usually gives gravy a fatty flavor & is overkill especially if you're either trying to have a meatless meal or planning on ordering a meat side in addition. Its a perfect comfort food that doesn't leave you feeling like you overdid it. I assume biscuits are homemade because they are so fluffy. That said, the sausage patties are delicious & good quality. Breakfast sandwich is equally amazing! Bloody Mary's on the menu made me extra happy ! The restaurant could use some greenery, like low maintenance leafy plants to liven up the color scheme, but otherwise I wouldn't change a thing. We stop there for breakfast whenever we're on that side of town. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! So nice to have such a quaint, old-school place to dine in this day & age....
