Review EDIT: I have to change this review. After Hiro sold it, it all changed. I'm going to try it again, but the few times I have gone after Hiro sold it to the owners of Tosu, it was not up the to same standards Hiro had. The rolls weren't cold, they were closer to room temperature. They were loose, and the quality just didn't seem the same at all and the seaweed used to wrap them was chewy and wrong. It broke my heart because I'm a sushi snob, especially after visiting places like Hawaii that have world class fresh fish. Hiro has been the only sushi chef in Oregon to meet my standards. And I'm really bummed he isn't there anymore.
This place is amazing. I just had my 4th visit in a couple months. Hands down best sushi in hundreds of miles. The quality of the fish is something that you won't find in any other restaurant in town and the smoked eel is by far the best i have ever had. The owner Hiro, is such a nice guy and his daughter is the sweetest server ever. I still want to try their bento combos that you get to mix and match, but the sushi is so good that i just order it every time i come here. The rice on the sushi has such a nice texture and the seaweed on the rolls is palatable and easy to chew through. The portions of fish and eel, in and on the rolls is extremely generous. My only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner so i could have enjoyed it for a longer time...
Read moreThe experience was exceptional! Upon our arrival at 8pm, we had the restaurant all to ourselves. The ambiance was fantastic with tasteful decor and delightful music, creating a comfortable environment. Great deal of attention to cleanliness.
While I usually prefer more patrons around to fairly assess the service, we were treated exceptionally well. The service was impeccable, offering great recommendations and being remarkably attentive, going the extra mile to warn us about the spiciness levels.
The cuisine was outstanding, beautifully presented, and notably fresh, boasting a variety of exquisite flavors and textures. The menu was extensive, featuring a wide selection of sushi, main courses, starters, and delicious beverages.
Our order of a hand roll and four sushi rolls totaled $74. I am quite comfortable spending $20 on a top-tier roll so I consider this place reasonably priced for the quality it delivers. It is truly worth it.
For optimal service, I recommend dining after 6:30 pm. This has definitely become our preferred dining spot...
Read moreIf you're a quality sushi lover please take your money somewhere else. So may rolls on the menu come with imitation crab so it was hard to find one that was worth ordering. The sushi itself was about as good as the packs you can get from the gas station. Way overdid the imitation crab with very little sauces for the price there should have been a way better assortment of fresh fish on rolls. They are on the higher priced side of sushi anywhere ive ever eaten and the worst. To top it off I got the "911" roll which of course came with imitation crab. It was rolled up in tin foil and lit on fire. My bad for not realizing this was going to happen but the torch was so hot it burned holes in the foil and it smelled terrible. To say I left a bad Taste in my mouth is an understatement because the burnt foil taste is still in my mouth and sinuses 6 hours later. $87 dollars for 4 garbage rolls that's the most I've ever spent local for 2 people. No thankyou and never again I feel...
