Breakfast just did not work out here. I came in hoping for the chilaquiles breakfast plate, as I had seen on an online menu. Love the dish and didn't know anyone locally made it. When I ordered it, however, I was told that it was not available as a plate. Odd, as the menu (photo below) specifically lists it under Breakfast Plates and states that all Plates come with rice, beans, sour cream, and tortillas. I pointed this out to the order taker (owner? cook?). He stated it didn't come with all that (though I could order extras, like rice and beans for an extra $2 each) and went on to try to explain what chilaquiles are. I said I knew what they are. (I've had them at other restaurants). I said that it was listed under Breakfast Plates on the menu... and right beneath that caption, it states all the extra goodies that come with Breakfast Plates. He told me no, again offering to add on for an extra charge, stating that the menu items only come with what is said under the specific item, not what it says under Breakfast Plates. (If that is the case, NONE of the "Breakfast Plates" come with the extra goodies offered directly under that heading as none of them had that in their individual section.) He was smirking during all this, like I clearly didn't have a clue... even though it appeared to me that he was specifically going against what was offered on the menu.
I should have just left; I don't like businesses that are dishonest and don't stand by what is clearly stated on their menu. But I decided to try a breakfast burrito. What a disappointment! As he was bringing it over, it looked way too skinny. There was barely any filling in it, and the potatoes in it were barely warm, let alone browned. The first few bites had no filling whatsoever; I hate a burrito that is nothing but folded tortilla at the top and bottom... and even in the middle had little in it. I also hate leaving a restaurant hungry; I had to have some oatmeal when I got home to feel like I had enough to start my day.
The only good thing about this place was the medium salsa, which went well with...
Read moreUpdate, from 3-5 stars! My original review is below. Maybe I was having an off day? Came for chilaquiles and tacos rojos today and both were excellent! If you ask real nice they might make your chilaqueles with over easy eggs instead of scrambled. The tacos rojos came with a dipping sauce like an aujus. Soooo good.
Strange out-of-the-way location but it definitely has an authentic vibe. "A Mexican restaurant on Chevy way, it has to be great!" I’m not sure I ordered the right things? They had a special, five street tacos for five dollars so I went with that and I also got their french fries and substituted Al Pastore meat with everything on it. They have a little salsa bar so you can self serve. I didn’t think any of the sauces were very good, the hot was not hot at all and there were no fresh options like fresh jalapeños or onions. If I come back I will probably get a burrito of some type. I was hoping the flavors would pop more, I was hoping for some spice, I got neither. The workers were nice. Very blue-collar place to eat, lots of construction workers etc. usually that’s a good sign. My advice is to study the menu and know clearly what you’re going to get before you come. There is limited outside seating available. Half the customers were...
Read moreVery good family taco restaurant in Medford. Quesadilla, Burrito, Jumbo Taco...all fresh ingrediants and cooked as you prefer. I always add guacamole (.50) and rice to my order...and order Quesadilla's brown and crispy if they are not too busy. Crispy does require a longer wait. Taco Tuesday's $1 tacos attracts a lunchtime crowd...but the staff always remains friendly and efficient.
In Sweden most large industrial parks have a central and very good cafeteria style restaurant for all the workers. Amazing that US restaurants fail to recognize the oppurtunities of such a captive customer base. I am not recommending salty bland chains like mcdonalds, wendy's or burger king ...there are far too many of them already. TacoRiendo or other high quality yet inexpensive locally owned restaurants would be purrrfect.
