A new establishment that has quickly found its footing!
While visiting in the area, my friends took us to The Ford Tavern for lunch before we went grocery shopping across the street. You never go out for groceries on a full stomach, so I was more than happy to agree to try this new establishment!
This restaurant is relatively new to the area and is part of the growing mixed commercial & residential buildings in the area. Don't let that fool you, The Ford Tavern understands their market and has created a comfortable pub atmosphere that folks from outside the neighborhood (such as myself) can enjoy, yet is still current with trends and interesting to the folks who are moving into the surrounding housing spaces. Their decor alone shows that they're paying attention. So now, let's talk about the food ...
We were a three-top on an early September Friday afternoon. Staff had us seated at a high-top almost instantly after we arrived, and were very polite. Two of our party opted for beer, one for a soda. All of our drinks came quickly, everything was cool and refreshing. We chose to share the fried pickle appetizer, it came to our table quick and WOW was it hot! Everyone loved the dish and debated who got to take it home! The breading was thin and delightful on each slice, the sauce to dip was delicious as well.
For entrees, we ordered two breakfast burrito and one shaved turkey tavern club. Each dish was well received by the diner! The portions were so generous two of our party took leftovers home. Wait staff repeatedly visited our table to ask about refills of beer, water or soda. Leftover boxes came quick and it felt like we had settled the check within minutes of declaring we all had full bellies.
This was a great experience and, as I understand it, the menu along with the draft beer choices will continue to change as we roll through the seasons. I really look forward to visiting here again...
Read moreOur server, Martha, was not very friendly. We came in for dinner but left after our appetizer to go somewhere else. There was a DJ for trivia night playing music while the bar music was also playing so I asked if they were both going to be playing music simultaneously as I could hear both and she says “I don’t hear any music” (meaning the bar music) and I said I could hear both but was just curious if it would be conflicting music throughout the night. She said in a dismissive manner “there’s always music playing” (obviously, it’s a bar…) so I just said okay. We said we would wait for our appetizer before we decided if we wanted to eat dinner (based on her behavior) and soon after we got our app, she doesn’t ask how our food is, she just physically removes my fiancés phone from the menu without even asking him, and takes both of our menus. Didn’t ask if we wanted dinner, didn’t ask anything. Then a very friendly trainee asks if we’ve been checked on, to which we said no, but requested the bill. When he and Martha brought the bill back she said “sorry the music was too loud for you” so I just said “okay” (that was not the issue - it was both speakers playing different loud music - and then it was her demeanor towards us). She was then “concerned” and asked if everything was okay and my fiance explained to her that she wasn’t very friendly and was very dismissive of us to which she just walked away from us. We will sit at the bar next time. I hope the trainee is replacing her because our minimal interaction with him was much more pleasant than her dismissive,...
Read moreDon’t get me wrong I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for waitress. She was nice BUT first off the drink I wanted, which was still on menu, she said they weren’t making it that night, so I ordered the frose…after delivering drink she said they were making it. Second, I asked if shrimp scampi special was over spaghetti or a pasta like penne or rigatoni..she said pasta…it was over spaghetti, which I’m not a fan of. Then my husband ordered a shot of zambuca, twice and she said “ewe you must like that candy because this stinks” (black licorice) then he wanted desert. No menu, she just rattled a few things off…she said something and I couldn’t understand what she said. It sounded like that caramel du Lecé, so I asked if it was caramel and she said “yes caramel that’s it” well it was (I think) some sort of strawberry shortcake with a biscuit maybe? I don’t even know.all I know is my Husband hates strawberry shortcake or anything with strawberries. But my point is she had no idea about the menu. Not a clue! It was our second time getting this waitress. No name tag but I do know My husband asked her name and I couldn’t even understand it. First time I loved it. This time,...
