My boyfriend and I ordered to go and a young lady at the counter took our order. She took our number down and said she would call us. 35 minutes pass and we heard nothing so I walked back in to check the status. I saw a bag sitting there but she was busy so I stood waiting. Any time she had a chance to look up, she kept averting her gaze whenever she saw I was waiting. Finally one of the waitresses who saw me earlier said she thought my order had already been called. I told her no one called me so I was coming to see the status and she walked over and sure enough my order was the one sitting there forgotten. She apologized and handed me the bag while the original lady who took my order never attempted to make contact. I got my order to the destination and it was WRONG! I ordered the avocado toast without bacon and there was a huge portion of it sitting under the eggs. Luckily my boyfriend eats bacon and I don’t have an allergy so I was able to just give it to him but the kitchen needs to be better at reading the ticket because the lady at the counter read the order back to me and she said no bacon. The food had no seasoning on it what’s so ever. It was my first time there and I’m disappointed. I’d maybe try eating in next time instead of to go but I’m wary. Eliza is the only waitress I would trust if I go back. She’s the one who recognized me and got me my order. She even made sure I had cutlery. She is the only reason I gave an...
Read moreThis place is a local favorite, but I can't figure out why; the food is overpriced and mediocre at best, with major breakfast options missing. No eggs Benedict at an all day brunch spot?? The sausage /chorizo always tastes like it's been frozen since the last ice age. Lots of their specials seem to be rehashed version of things already on the menu (breakfast burrito vs huevos rancheros). The cold brew coffee tastes like rubber tires. The thing that's most disappointing, however, is the service. Of the 3 or so times that I've been here (not on my own volition), there seems to be an attitude from service that implies that I'm lucky to get a moment in the "holy grail" of Media brunch spots. The pinnacle of the attitude of was when my girlfriend found a long hair baked into the biscuit she ordered (baked on site), and the waitress' reply was "oh I'll get you another." After explaining that my girlfriend lost her appetite from not only her biscuit, but also her uneaten meal, we were shooed out for having lost interest in our hairy meal. I would have at least expected an apology or a discount on the uneaten meal (they did take the cost of the $3 biscuit off... So generous). In summary, this place is all hype. If you want a better brunch in the borough, go to Koffee Korner, House, or Azie (on Sundays), bc...
Read moreI know Bittersweet Kitchen in Media always receives rave reviews, but I had to add mine. I can’t believe they’re celebrating their 10th anniversary!! We usually don’t do breakfast at a restaurant unless we’re traveling, so this was our first time there. The wait time was always an issue for me.
We had some out of town guests who saw the reviews and wanted to try it. A table for 5 people can be a longer wait. Ours was 45 minutes, but it was a Saturday so we went shopping on State Street until our table was ready. All I can say is that’s it’s definitely worth the wait - 10 years and 45 minutes!
The owner greeted us with a bright smile. I’m sure she had already been there for hours dealing with lots of diners already. The staff were all patient, didn’t rush us, and explained the specials and made other suggestions. Everyone was in a great mood and it made our experience worth it.
We all had something different - I had the Challah French Toast which was like eating dessert for breakfast. Perfectly cooked, no soggy or doughy parts, and what a great combination of cream cheese and maple syrup 🤤. We had their homemade sausage patties as a side. Phenomenal!!
We’re not going to wait another 10...
