State Street Pub — Restaurant in Media

They have some good beer at Quotations. Unfortunately, they have bad food and bad service. I took my sister there for her 17th birthday, and we ordered the crab mac and cheese for an appetizer. We both love to eat, so it says a lot that it was so bad we not only didn't really touch it there, we refused to take it home. Dinner wasn't much better, although it was fine enough for us to bring ourselves to get it down.

On a separate occasion, I went to get drinks with a friend at 4:00 one day (so not busy; he wasn't overwhelmed), and I couldn't believe how rude the bartender was. At one point she asked a question about the beer menu and he grabbed the menu I was looking at out of my hands. Then she looked at the section titled "Pale ales and IPAs" and asked "Are these the dark beers?" He pointed to the title and said "Pale ales and IPAs." How condescending and unhelpful is that for someone who doesn't know beer? I won't go on, but the rude service only went on from there.

I would give Quotations 1 star if they didn't have a decent beer offering. It was just a shame I had to enjoy it at the...

Had an outdoor table on Friday evening. Enjoyed the great weather, some blackened chicken, blackened duck & Maryland Crab Soup among the three of us. Judgement on spiciness was 1 very good, 1 too spicy & would order without the spice next time. Crab Soup, I'd give a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5. I've been here before & had a great (5) corned beef special on rye with cole slaw. Waitresses we're very accommodating and even brought water for our very well-behaved pup, Penny, who took a little nap while she stayed leashed to her Mom's chair. Great atmosphere on State Street, Media with live music a few blocks down. Nice people strolling by - very Dog-Friendly. Inside atmosphere is clean, dimly-lit with 2 levels of small tables that can be pushed together for larger parties. Lots of beer selections, limited wine: red/white. Nice place to meet for lunch or to go before a night out on the town. Quotes are written everywhere (inside) so there's always a conversation starter...
