Ordered food on a Saturday night, at 6.30PM as my friend wanted Thai. They told me to pick up 50minutes later. I arrive at 7.15PM because I like to pick up my food warm and not sitting on a counter for 15 minutes. They had no trace of my order, but did tell me remembering I called. They had to ask me what I ordered again. Looked like two clueless students working behind the counter, the place was full of standing customers waiting to pick up their food, nothing was ready and everyone was pretty upset. Now he tells me that the food will be ready in 20 minutes, I said OK. I went outside to let my friend know that it would take a bit longer than expected because it wasn't ready. I talk with my friend a little bit, and go back about 15 minutes later to get my food. The guy asks me again what I had ordered, I tell him that I just told him for the second time 15 minutes ago, he answers well I thought you were angry and you left so I did not get your food ready .... Needless to say that by that time, YES I WAS ANGRY!!! And so was everyone else standing at the counter waiting for their food. I left and told the guy I would write this review. This place is a joke, I used to go when they opened and it was always good. The prices have gone up, the quality of the food has gone down, it's just OK now, I've had much better Thai, but the service? Seriously? What are they thinking? Listen, if you cannot keep up with the take outs, just tell people on the phone and we will find another solution. Totally unacceptable. Put some more people behind the counter on a Saturday night, and make sure they know what they are doing. Scrambling through post-it notes all over the counter is probably not very efficient. Even if had gotten my food, it would probably not even have been the right order ..... I crossed the street, went to order sushi at Temaki, they were ready in 10 minutes, my order was perfect, the staff was courteous .... I will NEVER EVER set foot at...
Read morePlease be careful when ordering from here. We have been ordering takeout for about 10 years, and it has been "OK." Not great, but good enough, and certainly not cheap. About a month ago we called about 10 times, and finally gave up when no one answered and just went in to order. When I told them something was wrong with the phone they said, "oh sorry." Last night we tried again to order by phone. No one answered, so again I went in to order and waited. After 20 minutes I thought I would call, while in the restaurant, to see if the phone range...it didn't. I brought this to their attention and they said "oh the phone was turned off!" Then after 45 minutes, and dozens of Door Dash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub pickups, the young man asked me, "what did you order again?" Then I finally got my food. When I got home we noticed that the eggplant dish we ordered had no eggplant in it. The Chicken Sate was literally green, the Coconut Shrimp was like rubber, and the Jungle King looked so disgusting it was inedible. We weren't going to eat any of it, as it was just too disgusting. I took it back and asked for a refund and explained to the chef why. While they were processing my refund, I mentioned that right in front of the door outside was a pile of vomit as you entered the restaurant that I had noticed when I came in earlier, and was told "yes we know, that's a problem." After 10 years, we won't...
Read moreWell, to start, all of the workers are here under the table for about $40 a night. Which, if you’ve ever worked or been to a restaurant, you know most waitresses keep their own tips and that’s what they profit, well not the case for the unfortunate 14-18 year olds that are the waiters and waitresses here. Food is not kept in prime conditions that ensure food cleanliness or freshness. I always very much appreciated the vegan options, but everything is cooked together so it doesn’t really make a difference. As far as bugs in the food, it’s quite common actually. While working there I had one climb in my bag and almost took a roach home with me, so keep your items on your lap while visiting. The Thai tea was pretty good until I realized it’s more than likely days old at some points, only on busy nights is it made over and over. Unfortunately the owner takes a lot of pride in this establishment but as a former customer as well as worker, I must say it’s the LAST place I’d recommend on state street especially. If you want authentic food then go to the Thai place across the street, they’re super nice, or go to the mexican place two blocks over. You’ll be saving your money and time. I can’t imagine them being safe during covid, when precovid safety regulations were absolutely atrocious for ANY food...
