Went with my partner to Cool Beans on a quick lunch pit stop. Was looking forward to visiting after a recommendation from a friend, and hearing about their iced coffee and soup flights. We ordered two of the drink specials, the Hermit, a Thai Iced Tea Blended drink, and the High Priestess, a Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Latte. We ordered both with oat milk, which was confirmed by the cashier. I do prefer a sweet flavored drink, but both tasted primarily of milk and syrup, and possibly dairy milk. We ate the soup flight for lunch, ours had the chili, potato leek, pasta fagioli, and tomato soup. We paired it with the three cheese panini with added bacon. We loved the tomato of the four soups, and found the other soups and sandwich average. It was a busy day, and there were about 30 people in the Cafe. The food took a while to come out, and it was difficult to hear names being called clearly. A last concern, despite the high ceilings and spread out tables, and people in and out the doors air quality levels were very high, the second time I've seen a capped score of 1999ppm. Good indoor air quality should be below 1000ppm. Installing quality air filtration can help improve this and keep customers safe by decreasing risk to airborne illness. The flights are really cool concepts, and if these concerns were addressed...
Read moreI want so much for this to be the best coffee shop in Medina because of its prominent location and ease of access but there are a couple things I’d suggest to the owner: 1) Consolidate and simplify your menu. I think the reason people end up waiting for such a long time for their food and drinks could be that it is hard to efficiently systemize such a large and complex menu. Pick a few key items you want to be great at and excel at them instead of being slow and average at a lot of items. 2) Refocus on making great coffee and take pride in it. Coffee is not easy to do well and attention should be paid to every step including water temp, grind size, bean quality, etc. I find myself going to competitors such as 1912 or whatever it’s called down the road because they really hit it out of the park with the quality of the coffee and espresso. I know it takes longer and costs more to produce this kind of product but if you reduce and simplify your menu you’ll produce less waste which will allow you to buy more expensive beans and equipment.
I wanna see you guys do great and I want to visit more often because your location and hours are outstanding but I think you’re leaving some unrealized potential on the...
Read moreI’ve been trying to get to this place since I moved to Medina nearly a year ago. My boyfriend surprised me one morning. We were both very disappointed. As much hype as this place gets and on a Sunday morning there was a line to the street but only 3 people working. One taking orders, one making drinks, and one making food. We realized people who got there well after us were getting their drinks before us so I went up to find out that our name was never called (we were 2 tables away) and someone took our drinks after the girl taking orders told me she knows for sure they were made multiple times before having them remade since I repeatedly said we didn’t get them. My boyfriend’s caramel macchiato was made wrong. Then we had to ask about our food almost 10 minutes after our drinks were remade. It took nearly 30 minutes to get everything we ordered. The table was kind of rocking back and forth but nothing else was available to move. My breakfast sandwich was good but he wasn’t thrilled with his. I don’t understand why everyone raves...
