What a GEM! Had datenight on the Square with my wife, and after stopping a by few places to check thier venues and have a drink, we ventured into 17 and immediately loved the "vibe"! It was dinner time so it was bustling with activity, but we were able to easily find 2 seats at the bar to have a cocktail and check out the menu. The bartender was very attentive and nice! The menu had a wide variety of food and looked delicious coming out of the kitchen, so we asked to transition to a table which was not a problem for the amazing staff. It was datenight and we didn't want to be rushed through our dinner and the wait staff was very accommodating! My wife loved the pork schnitzel and my sausage penne was delicious! We had a great conversation with the general manager who was busy doing various duties, but found the time to welcome us newcomers and give us a little history of the building & establishment. We absolutely loved the atmosphere, the wonderful wait staff, great management, and delicious food, I believe we have just found our favorite "datenight" place...
Read moreReviews were promising so we decided to check out 17 public square and left a little let down. Maybe our expectations were too high going in? We settled on the schnitzel and fried chicken plates.
The fried chicken came out with an amazing thick and crispy crust and was well cooked on the inside as well. I opted for the fries instead as a side and the taste was great but the portion size was pretty small. I had maybe 5 good fries (they are thick) but the rest were either those weird shriveled up fries or small pieces.
If that's the only meal ordered I'd rate this a 4 but the schnitzel was a disappointment. It came out thick instead of the normal thin piece which could be fine but it was dry and not all that tasty. Our waitress said it was her favorite so I fully accept that everyone has their preference but for us it just wasn't that good. Mac and cheese that came on the side was also just ok.
If we come back I'd go with a burger or handheld, a lot of them looked good and may have been...
Read moreMy wife and I were doing some shopping in the Medina square and decided to give this place a try for lunch. As soon as I walked in, I liked the place. The inside is clean and homey with a rustic feel because of the wood tables, wooden floors, and brick walls. We were seated immediately. They have a good selection of craft beers, both on tap and in cans. There was a good variety of Christmas ale (tis the season). I ordered the 17 handheld. This was a chicken Ceasar chicken breast sandwich. You can have it fried or grilled. I chose grilled and had it with a side salad. My wife had the 17 burger with fries. The food was really good. My sandwich was moist and tasty. The 17 burger is served with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and onion rings. It was cooked medium and juicy. My wife's only complaint were with the house fries. She is not a fan of rosemary used to season them. I had a few and I liked them though. Service was good...
