Long time Medina resident and JoJo's/Dominics is a "go-to" for my wife and I. Usually we dine in the JoJo's Sports Bar side where it is historically good to great. Tonight we decided to have a nice sit-down in the "Dominics" side. We were seated quickly and courteously. The hostess tried real hard to get our drink orders to us quickly after we waited for an inordinate amount of time (about 15 minutes for those). I don't want to go to hard on our server as this Saturday night was at a top of the evening rush dining hour and she was very busy. Also, things in the kitchen can cause delays in this post-C0V!D day and age and having worked in food service we understand this. Food experience: my 1/2 rack BBQ ribs were very good. My wife's lasagna was HIDEOUS. The team operators/owners at this venue have very obviously made a determination to run with low quality, Chef Boy-Ar-Dee type sauce. I noticed this same sauce on other pasta dishes being served, looking around. The order closely resembled low quality freezer to table food. Salad "greens" were quite white/transluscent in color. Not so long ago, Dominic's pasta sauce was FANTASTIC. Be selective when you order your food here. I recommend staying away from pasta dishes. (Marie's in Wadsworth has a really fine red sauce recipe for their dishes BTW and it is delicious) Lastly, Dominic's/Jojo's needs to get their beer tap/bottles act together. I've said this for years. Practically every establishment in Medina offers a "Untapped" or QR scan menu for this and these guys have not kept pace. I realize it requires more diligence but, hey, it is now an expectation in this competitive enviroment when you go out to dine. The servers this night looked at me funny when I asked for recitation of tap/bottle offerings and that is awkward, both for them and the customers. We love the the place but like so many restaurants that are challenged these days with maintaining good quality ingredients and food prep across all offerings, it now becomes a game of "what can I order that this establishment will screw up the least?" I can name a few restaurants where that is not the case, thankfully. Of course we will drop in here from time to time and I'll probably stay with burger/pizza/Dortmunder Gold and no more until they up their game. Note to owners: do not be afraid to up prices to offset better/best quality...
Read moreI had recently started going to dominics. The first few times i loved it... The severs were fast and nice. They do not have name tags nor is their name on the bill so i can only describe them like this
The really good one was older probably 40s and a bigger girl (sorry they didnt have name tags. I dont wish to describe people like that) The other one was also good and also older.
The last few visits ive gotten young girls.. probably just old enough to serve beer.
They were AWWWWWWWWFFFFUUUUUUUUULLLL. Slow, one dropped my drink off and said here is your refill without looking at me.. she put it down said that and kept moving... The others would go back to the kitchen and just totally vanish.. not like getting a tables food. They clearly were talking back there. Ive worked in restaurants. A good server is only back there long enough to check on or grab food. I witnessed the other standing by the pop tower and talking even though their tables were giving them the, hello we need something look. One time on a saturday my pasta was over cooked. It had likely been sitting in a pot all day. It was also already cold
The meatballs were on top of the sauce not under it and they were ice cold.
Thats three bad experiences in a row. Im done. To the family that owns it and DINO. You are slowly killing your business.. i watched people walk to jojos with their drinls because the server was not...
Read moreService here sucks. Waited 22 minutes for a host to come up to the stand to seat us. Because the sign said please wait to be seated. Even though usually it says please seat yourself. So we waited 22 minutes we timed it. And people kept coming up to us saying that the hostess will be right with us. And there was a whole group of other guests waiting to be seated behind us as well. Saw so many open tables too. And people were having to wait outside because no one was helping anyone. It is honestly ridiculous. Hostess was rude. It was hard because they have no seating area to sit and wait and I am in my third trimester with my first pregnancy. And especially with the rude hostess when she finally made an appearance it was just the icing on the cake. When she came up she said in the most snarky tone when I asked for a booth because I am pregnant she was like “you will have to wait longer for a booth” when no one was in any of the booths. And 2 minutes later she came back up and said to me “we have a booth ready for you” she was beyond rude. If she doesn’t like the job she is at go somewhere else. You are supposed to be the first person people see when they walk in you should be smiling and friendly and helpful. It is what a hostess does. But her no absolutely not. The only thing good about this place is their food period. Why I am...
