I will start by saying the food was delicious, the chef did a wonderful job. They also refunded the meal we never received, so we appreciate that.
However, the delicious food does not excuse the service we received. This was the third time I have been to Waffle-O-Waffle. The first time I went it was wonderful and quick, my party only ordered boba tea. The second time we spent about 20 minutes waiting for two orders of boba tea, which was longer than I thought would take for two drinks, but it was still very good. This third and frankly final time I’ve been to Waffle-O-Waffle was disappointing. We came is as party of 6, and they confused us with another party of 6 that called ahead and reserved a table. We found out as we were leaving today, but for large parties such as ours we were supposed to call ahead. That is a fault on our part, but if that is the policy then we should not have been seated.
Anyway, we were seated in the back of the restaurant and we were told to place our orders using the QR code on the table. Everyone is the group placed an order on their respective devices and then we waited for our orders to come out. After about 30 minutes we received one meal and one order of boba tea (these items were from separate orders). Then we waited another 10-15 minutes until the food that was ordered with the boba tea came out, completing two orders. Then after about 5 minutes the waitress came out and asked what items we were missing. We told her we were still missing 4 complete orders. After about 10 minutes, one more meal came out and we were asked again what items we were missing. We explained that we were missing 3 orders. After another 10 minutes, the fourth meal came out and we were once again asked what was missing. We explained we are missing two meals, the same ones we told them the past two times. We even showed the items on the menu we were missing. Then we waited for about 20 minutes until the fifth meal came out, and again, we were asked what was missing. It was shocking that, at the very least, they didn’t write down the ordered items we explained multiple times were missing.
As we were nearing 1 hour and 45 minutes there, I asked for boxes because the party needed to leave soon (we did not anticipate being there for close to two hours to begin with. Maybe this was a fault of having 6 people, but nonetheless). I did not receive any boxes, and at 1 hour and 55 minutes I asked for boxes again, and to also refund the sixth order because we still had not received it. By two hours I still did not receive any boxes, so I got up to look for them myself. I couldn’t find them so I went up to the wait staff and requested that I receive boxes now, we need to leave. They managed to get them in less than a minute while I stood there and waited for them. There were also only 3 other two person parties in the restaurant at this point.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I recognize that Waffle-O-Waffle is a small business and they sometimes have a hard time, but this was unacceptable. Service should always come first and I feel we were disregarded multiple times. It took 15 minutes to get a to go box for food, and that was only after I expressed that I need them right now, we need to leave. I can only imagine how much longer it would’ve taken had I not asked and then stood waiting for them.
I encourage everyone to form their own opinions regarding the service and experience at Waffle-O-Waffle, but I will not be returning nor recommending...
Read moreThe food was really good and the menu is creative. The place opened at 9. We arrived around 10:30. They closed right after they seated us. There were not that many people at the time but they said they had a few bigger parties and sold out. I didn’t feel like our food took long, though people at tables all around us were complaining of really long wait times. I think our wait was shorter since they stopped taking orders. People were finishing their meals while others at the same table were still waiting on their food causing lots of complaints all around us. One table was ready to leave and had food that had not yet come. So when my food came, I ate it so it wouldn’t get cold because we didn’t see any tables with all their food at the same time. My friends food came after I was done eating, maybe 15 or 20 minutes after my order arrived. My friend also ordered a caramel iced coffee. It didn’t come until we had been there maybe an hour, after I was done with my food. The waitress said a few times they were working on her drink. It seems like the cook also makes all the drinks. We both didn’t get waters until we had been there for maybe 30 minutes and I asked about them. Not a big deal though, we could have asked sooner. People at the table next to us left without their smoothie because the waitress said the cook was finishing making all the food before she made the drinks and the people were done eating. The table over from them had their food brought out in to go containers because some of the table was done eating and the rest didn’t have food yet. The cook kept saying it’s because 2 parties were accepted by the waitresses without reservations which caused them to fall behind. We were seated next to the kitchen and could hear the owner berating her staff, which made us really uncomfortable. While others seemed to have long wait times, that wasn’t our issue. I could fully understand the wait at a small business. It was more the fact that the food comes out at different times for the same table to the point that we weren’t eating at the same time at all and the cook was talking down to the staff, and had to realize we can hear. It has good potential but it sounds like from the reviews and our experience that there is some room for improvement in managing the flow during...
Read moreThe food here is fantastic. We visited for the first time last week. I've been fantasizing about it EVERY DAY since so we went back again today, and got the exact same thing. I've turned into my parents like the Progressive commercial and told the people at the next table how much they will enjoy what they just ordered since that's what we got. Incredibly satisfying. Got a chance to talk to the owner today, too. She's got a good thing going.
We ordered the breakfast pizza waffle which is genius: a delicious waffle bottom with scrambled eggs, onion, bacon, and cheese on top. The mix of flavors is outstanding and the dish overall is very gratifying. The waffle alone is perfect. Hearty without being too dense or dry, with the tiniest hint of sweet: a great balance to the savory toppings.
What came out first, however, was the strawberry waffle with cream cheese and strawberry sauce. I was really hungry, so I thought I'd snag a single sliced strawberry to start while waiting for the other food. One sliver confirmed how hungry I was, so I cut off a nibble of the waffle with the cream cheese, hoping it would sustain me until the rest of the food came out. It was so incredibly good, the dam broke loose and three of us in our party devoured that thing in matter of seconds, moaning over and over how good it was. It was perfection. You know how sometimes strawberry sauce can be sickeningly sweet? Not here. It was just enough to enhance the fresh strawberries and the cream cheese topping offered balance to make it utterly delightful.
This place is hidden away in an old colonial-type building and the signage leading you to the front doors is confusing; the entrance is on the west side of the building. You use a QR code to pull up the menu and you can order from there or have the waitress ring you up. That's a little different too. The seating in the front room isn't the only seating. There are three sections to the restaurant.
I don't know of other place like this anywhere, and I travel extensively. I wish the owner chef tremendous success. We will be happy...
