Chili’s Grill & Bar, 955 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, Florida 32935-
2-Stars (Chain Restaurant Rating)
There is nothing worse than arrogance in the restaurant business. Chili’s used to be a decent chain. I remember back in the 1980s looking forward to Chili’s fajitas and burgers. As a teenager, it was worth the drive down to the Palm Bay location for some decent grub. What happened here? The day I went into the Melbourne Chili’s, it had an abundance of disinterested miserable employees who apparently hate their manager. The restaurant was virtually empty. Only two tables were occupied in the bar. One waitstaff, Jennifer, was so contemptible I even felt sorry for her. I figure someone this glowering had bigger issues than I do. When I go to a restaurant I want to sit where I want to sit. Unless the table is reserved, where that is shouldn’t matter. Occasionally I hear, “Well, that’s someone else’s section.” So, adapt for feck’s sake. Life is about change and adaptation. Eventually you’ve got to move out of mom’s basement and head out into that big scary world.
I ordered the 6oz Classic Sirloin cooked to temp, served with loaded mashed potatoes and broccoli. This should have been a solid satisfying meat-and-potatoes meal. It wasn’t. The broccoli was stale, and the mashed potatoes were wallpaper paste. Quite frankly, I was shocked it was so bad. If the memory of this meal could be bottled up and used as Antabuse, I would never drink again.
As I said, there was a time maybe 30 or 40 years ago, when a Chili’s burger was worth traveling for, but I would make no such effort today. From the Big Mouth Burger’s section of the menu, I ordered the Chili’s Secret Sauce Burger. This burger was fine. Though it was composed of low-grade meat, someone in the kitchen knows how to cook burgers and saved this review from being a one star. As for the sauce, I’m pretty sure it is a secret because it is so disgusting. Chili’s is embarrassed to tell you what’s in it.

Read moreFeb 20, 2015 my friends went to Melbourne Chili's right when they opened at 11 am. Our server John told us the computers were down so he'd have to write our checks manually and stamp our credit cards if we used card as payment method, asking for card #, the 3 security digits on the back, and of course we had to sign our checks. I felt bad for how flustered he seemed with a bad start to the lunch rush hour. Come Monday, I check my bank account to realize I had been over charged $10. I called at 11 am Tuesday and was asked to call back for the manager at 2 pm, after lunch rush hour dies down. Working in retail, I completely understood and called back later at 3 pm. The lady manager, Joi, was pleasant to talked to and apologized (though it wasn't her fault). She said she'd send out gift card/vouchers for the amount I was overcharged. It was delayed a week because they ran out of special vouchers and had to wait for the area director to drop off more. It's a friendly reminder that sometimes it may look like a side isn't doing everything they can to compensate you But there are obstacles when your position can only do so much! When I had called manager Joi after a week of no vouchers she had an explanation (as I mentioned earlier). All you have to do is ask sometimes. Overall, though this was tedious to get back my $10 I was wrongfully overcharged and makes me suspicious of some servers, the manager did her best :-) So dont be afraid to call for answers, be smart, but don't be rude. Read moreI hate complaining or writing poor reviews as I, too, work in the service industry and have even previously worked at a Chili’s... but I feel like Brinker International NEEDS to know how badly this store requires help and attention when it comes to their serve staff.... to the point where we’ve questioned even wanting to go there again. Three times, my boyfriend and I have had beyond lousy service. The first time, we sat in the bar area and ordered drinks and appetizers. There were only two other patrons at the bar and the restaurant was not busy. Our waiter was never seen... He got our drinks, our appetizer order, and then never returned. Food runner did not give us plates or napkins for our wings (that were obviously messy to eat) and we could not get anyone’s attention to ask for them. We chose not to order entrees because we just wanted to leave at that point. We went to the bathroom, and left our things on the table; came back and our food that we wanted to take home was bussed and gone. The second time, our server got our drink orders wrong twice, and even brought out a mango Chile chicken when I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta. I decided to eat it and not say anything, but come on! Get it together... Assumptions are not my thing, but i’d assume this chili’s (being the location that it is in) are staffed with the drug users that live around that area... As they seem to not care about their jobs whatsoever. The bartender definitely seemed that way. Brinker... PLEASE help this...
